I would be shocked if anyone other then Blake Lazarus started the year at fullback.... i think he is our best option too followed by Might Mouse

My biggest Hodgo memory from 2008 was failing to run down a 35 year old second-rower (Menzies) over 40 metres. Love the guy, he always gave 100% but he is past NRL standard. Whether instructed to or not, his constant moving into second receiver also hindered us in attack - he was at his best running off others in support but he was no longer capable of bursting through the line last year so settled for playing in the halves too often. Hope he kills the ESL but it was best for both that he moved on.
Give up while you are ahead!!! U are talking so much crap its getting ridiculuos now. He would have easily been in the top 4 fullbacks in the NRL and he could still run into a f**king hole , only prob was we didnt have any halves capable of making any. Thats why he was hanging around the halves was to try create something that the likes of Morris was unable to do.

hey Ponner

Hodgson is a true champion. Best player we've ever had. Good luck, you've done well to get him. Just as someone who watches more ESL than me - how do you rate Gareth Ellis?

Ellis is a great player tough as old boots. As for the type of player he is , he is pretty much a tackling machine 30 to 40 tackles a match. Runs the ball in hard and is a real workhorse. Not flash and not a great attacking second row but if you need someone to do the hard graft in the middle of the field he is the man to do it.

Cheers Giant

sounds like the sort of player we need. In fact, any team needs. We've got some good attacking players but are looking for some starch in defence. Have agreat season!

I hope you're right Giant, what I saw of him in the World Cup got me about as excited as I am on Tuesdays when the teams are posted and J. Morris is at #7..

England clearly had massive off-field issues. Ellis was played out of positon (as was the bloke in his position - wtf). He was still stronger than any Aussie second rower, even playing well below par.

Do you always talk sh*t, or is it just in this forum?

On his form in the World Cup I wouldn't want him ahead of any backrowers in the Australian or New Zealand teams. He was almost invisible.

Did you watch any of the Poms games?

I'm hopeful he has talent and that he's an astute purchase, and on what I've seen of him in the ESL he might be, but the NRL isn't the ESL and I'm hardly going to assume he's a good one just because Mr. "John Morris should be free to float" says so...

Speaking of talking sh*t, Senior has just confirmed that the Leeds/Saints split was key to the problems.

You're a complete and utter dope. G Stewart is up there with the worst players ever to wear green and gold. He was worse than useless. Boof pulled his usual rep football sh*t, only looking good when there was a roll on. Watmough, similar. Tupou, I would have looked good taking the 4th hit up. Gallen, ineffective.

Any decent 2nd row was injured and was the reason we were always going to lose if the reffing went beyond 10 minute hold downs.

NZ had a good forward pack, and steam rolled ours so don't try and use my arguements.

You miss simple things like the sting in the tackle or actually being effective at dropping in behind the ruck and playing the football at pace. This is why your opinions are the same as the people you like to think stupid. Put two and two together nob jockey.

On what I saw from Ellis in the World Cup I'd have Stewart in a heartbeat ahead of him. I'd have Stewart, Fitzgibbon, Watmough, Corey Payne, Marty Feldman and the Vienna boys choir ahead of him too. He was awful, didn't lead, didn't tackle, didn't run, didn't do anything.

Some were bad, but Ellis was f**king invisible for the whole tournament. He was "The ghost who plays second row".

Re-read the bold bit thickhead, it was in the earlier post.

You're dumber than dishwater.

Eddie.

Yep, Heighto is terrible.

Westie has a very rare abailty to see the little things others miss.

This is why over the years he has trumpeted players such as

* Ben Jeffries (great vision and kicking game)
* Daniel Fitzhenry (His Surrender playes lone reason for 05 triumph)
* Ben Reynolds (Ahead of Scott Prince)
* Chris Patterson (I cant even remember what you saw in him westie but i know you rated him??)
* Shannon Mcdonnell (Dominates reserve Grade, Best fullback in world for his age)
* John Morris ("should be free to float") - Float down the Nepean River hopefully.

People who think im joking should go back over the years. The facts are scary

I almost forget that Hutch Maiva was the best front rower in the world according to Westie.

As Yet, Westie is still the only person to see these little things in these players. Once first grade Coaches and RL People and the rest of the fans start seeing these things expect these players to return to First grade Football. I admire your vision Westie. Where there any other pet players i missed in this compilation?

Every time you post this same post, despite having things explain to you, I imagine you - looking like Frank Lampard with that "who me" look on his face that he pulls after yet another f**k up. Nice red card by the way.

You don't seem to understand that I rated Jefferies - ahead of Glenn Air.

Fitzy - because he started our sets. Watch the '05 dragons semi when he buggers the first run, we didn't make it out of our 20. Coincidentally, we barely make it out of our 20 at all now.

Reynolds, ahead of a young fragile Benji - 5 shoulder ops later and I think I was right.

Patterson as a 2nd rower, as opposed to a prop - something I'll argue for pretty much any forward who has played for us.

McDonnell - I don't understand, I've never claimed he has performed in firsts, rather that he has talent? Anyone who has watched him will argue similarly.

Morris, like all our other inadequate players, we are stuck with. Surely finding the right position for him is better than giving him the responsiblity of main man, which he has proven he can't handle. You're surely not arguing he should run the show? Not even you could.

Again, I actually can't believe how stupid you are. Hutch I suggested we purchase on match payments from PL after he ripped apart the blokes we now have in FG. He's not very good, but the fact is, he was a decent front rower that we could afford when we had none and had no money or pulling power for decent players. I'd take him as a 25th player, regardless of how useless he is, because he is, like then, better than nothing.

Please tell me you understand.

Well yeah, because he is.

You need to follow another sport.

If I said I could compile a package showing his mis-tackles, or lack of effort directly leading to more than 20 trys conceded against us, would you believe me?

And, assuming you don't, because you'd have to admit I am right, would you then be prepared to take a bet that I could?
