I would love to see Smith immediately take over for the rest of the season and if he improves the situation significantly, be rewarded with a two year deal.

I think you have all forgotten what it was like when Brian Smith was coach. He had early success but by the end had lost all support from the players and had to go. This was a familiar story at Newcastle, Parramatta and Easts. He is devisive.

Tim Sheens is also devisive, and past his used by date. And why is the discussion between only Price and Smith. Thats pretty narrow.

I was hoping that Neil Henry might have been approached. He is a good man manager and I think he had a pretty hard time working with Thurston.

Well, you have Brian Smith free and available, all agree starts off well, gets structure in place then fades in last year of his contract. Matt Elliot punted from a few clubs I can't see him making that much of a difference. Then Neil Henry, massive under achiever at Cowboys with player revolts basically forced his hand. But tough passionate coach. Wild card, Tim Sheens, but the feeling is he is now past it.

So the best option. B Smith or N Henry?

Of course Price could stil surprise, but surely as a club, Dragons would have Plan B ready to roll?

Plan B has to be enforced immediately at the end of this month. New Zealand could see that Mathew Elliott's coaching was going no where fast. Steven Price must win the next 3 games to save his season anything less means that he hasn't matured as a coach!!!

Nah, apparently Elliott wasn't sacked, he stepped down

Over the next 8 games, Steve Price would have to win at least 4 of them one would think to stay in contention to keep his job. If he can win 5 or 6 from the next 8 games, he deserves extra time to prove himself, I think it's too early to write him off. Sure last year and 2012 were very frustrating ( I was hoping we'd get a new coach end of last year), but this year we have seen some improvement.

If say we lose 5 or more games from the next 8 games, then I would have grave doubts whether Steve Price can lead the team further and beyond, the excuses would be running thin. In two months time, we will see where we're really at and in 4 months time, we will surely know........

When did Brian Smith lose support of the players at Saints?

I think you're re-writing history.

If like to see Brown or Henry. I reckon Brown would have matured over the past few years. And it's only Creagh Morris and Nightingale remaining from the golden period. Also think with a bit of luck Henry could have got a shot at two grand finals.

They didn't sack Price at the end of last year, which would have been the most suitable time to do it. Logic would say that they should take a wait and see approach especially since Price and the team won the first 3. However that is not the making of a season, they should not make any rash decisions either way, even if Price wins the next 8 games (wait till close to season's end), if he loses the next 8 then the writing is on the wall.....

I was at Brian's last game in charge at Kogarah against the Western Reds and the players carried him off the field on their shoulders mate. The players loved Brian. 2 Grand Finals in first 2 years, yet people can say Price is better? And the team Brian had is no way near as good as what Price has had. They did not come off a Grand Final from prior years. He had 1 international only in the squad. He made the youngsters become internationals like Tallis & Coyne. Because he chose youth over experience when he knew he had to and persisted with them not like this clown.

He would be a great manager and Hornby and Young will get a lot out of him whilst he is there just like Jason Taylor did.

I would go for Jason Taylor if not for the experienced Brian Smith or Tim Sheens. JT is a good manager and has a good footy brain.

How about that a coach never to win a comp, but still gets carried off, great memories:)

It seems there are a few on here who want to give Price unlimited time to prove himself; they just keep extending the time line each time members on here call for the termination of his contract. While this is going on, our great Club is going backwards and if it keeps going like this, we could end up as a bottom dweller for the next few years.

Good, clever and experienced people placed in key positions of authority within the Club, would most likely turn things around. First casualty is Price, then Doust and hopefully then some Board positions.

A successful Club should bring the fans to games and Club events.

A top 4 Club and would more likely entice fans to buy promotional product.

Success makes it much easier to recruit members.

Success can have a big influence on the acquisition of major sponsorship, minor sponsorship and player’s third party sponsorship.

All of the above will have an influence on the financial status of our great Club.

But most importantly, a successful Dragons team will make this old man very happy in his retirement phase of life and possible make life easier for the misses.
