I wasn't referring to Friday Red as I'm aware this has been a problem last year as well. I've commented over the last few weeks on it but it serves little purpose going back in time about a problem that should be fixed now and can be fixed in 16 days except just to ask the question why hasn't it? Of course it is the coaching staff but I don't think you can directly contribute that only to Price, we have a defensive coach and he is either ineffective or the players aren't following direction. It may very well be a problem with the wrestling coach but Price should and I'm sure is asking questions. Prices problem where we are concerned is he stands by his players and coaching staff in terms of media, what goes on behind closed doors may be a different matter. I'm sure it will be a difficult thing for him to sack Albert but either we fix the ruck before next game or Albert has to go and maybe its Doust that should be stepping in here. I can't see Price being dumped until there is no chance we can make the 8 if at all but I don't see why the defensive coach shouldnt be held accountable. In summation we would all be happier focusing on the things that can be changed instead of bashing our head against a wall with the slice Price mentality as it won't happen.
In addition this goes way back to the Bennett era as well, we rarely won the ruck but we did somehow manage to have great line speed early in the count and otherwise rarely missed tackles and had the best goal line defense I've ever seen. The difference is we rarely got penalized as we were one of the protected few teams and clearly we are not now. Another big difference is we had Sowards kicking game to counter and when he was off we lost due to not winning the ruck. Also the game speed has increased and so has the need to slow it down. How Manly don't have several players in the sin bin every game is beyond me and most of the time they dont even get penalized.
