Got a bit more time to comment.

Blue/orange works and its unique. Although the griffin is centred on the logo it feels like there is too much weight on the right hand side of the logo. I'd suggest shrinking it down a bit and shifting it right if possible. Its also important to consider a logo in a 2 colour (black/white) situation; you might want to use some keylines around the griffin and the shield (on the jersey) to clearly define the elements. The typeface is also well suited to the identity.

Made a concept for what should of been the basis of the team (docbrown will appreciate this).

I always liked your use of the griffin and heraldry as the best mascot/logo suggestion going around.

From memory I think I was suggesting Queensland Kings to fit that theme in a similar play on words like Newcastle Knights.

I'll throw another colour idea your way - solid Dark Green body, Silver highlights and maybe Black or even Maroon for lettering if needed. Gazf did some Dark Green jets mock ups which looked a treat.

Blue and Gold are Brisbane's colours, most teams have white (although the dark gold and Blue has that Crushers look to it which is also cool). I really like this design and for the name and logo and with the Bombers name dragging through the mud, it's a good time for the Brisbane Bombers bid to dump an unpopular name (I don't care what this bid says, there is no way the Bombers was the most popular public choice)

I also think it's imperative the NRL don't allow any new teams to have colour schemes similar to any existing NRL team.

Blue / Orange
Red / yellow
Black / Red
Black / yellow
The Miami Dolphin colours.
Etc

Well it's pretty common to find Griffins in heraldry wearing crowns as they're kings of beasts and birds -

I mean I may be into this stuff but to me that immediately gives a sense of tradition and connection than stuff like Bayliners and Barracudas.

Hey Bombers fans, we're getting some cool trucker caps produced featuring a metal 'wingman' badge along with some hardcore looking aluminium water bottles. Once they're ready, we'll launch them available at cost-price on the redeveloped Brisbane Bombers website in the next month.

Perhaps because it'd be just as clearly a Broncos rip off as Bombers. Any name "Brisbane B...s" would be. If a second team is to be based at Suncorp and effectively cover the same catchment as the Broncos then it must be marketed as distinctly different, not simply a clone of what already exists.

Aside from Broncos and Burras, beginning and ending with B & S, theyre not alike at all. Sounding different and being different animals. I agree that calling it Brisbane is probably not the go though..

Say "Broncos Burras" ten times fast.

Take something like Diehards or Jets or Dolphins. South Queensland Diehards? No problem. Morton Bay Diehards? Fine. Even Brisbane Diehards works. But Brisbane Bombers or Brisbane Burras playing the same sport, out of the same stadium as the Brisbane Broncos. Perpetual market confussion.
