So if true I guess the new dolphins fans are either part of the 2% or were fans of other clubs that have now switched allegiances? so no real new fans for nrl, just regurgitated existing fans?

dolphins have had a great start, but so did the titans. Let’s see how they are tracking in a few seasons before getting giddy. They aren’t a genuine brisbane2 club and that will keep them smaller than it could have been imo. Especially if they insist on playing in a 10k outer suburban stadium.
Lamo stop the dolphins

they could easily overtake the broncos and be the biggest club in rugby league

In time their pathways will start producing stars and they will have a fair shake of the best qld juniors

Brisbane tigers would be another powerhouse
The top 3 rugby eagle clubs could all be from Brisbane

f**k me you two, arguing against a point that isnt even being made, across multiple threads

Noone has said the dolphins are a failure, the only point I've read being made is that if a team from inner Brisbane had of came in, we wouldn't be seeing calls for Brisbane 3 this early, and that it's no secret News is and always has been protective of their broncos (it's a big part of the reason it's taken this long to get the no brainer that was Brisbane 2)

Then it's been taken on the rollercoaster of tangents that is "let's troll PR"

BTW, Brisbane 3 regardless of where in the city it is would be a stupid ass idea for team 18, you'd be trampling on the toes of the dolphins before they even take a step. Let them mature as an NRL club and build a constant momentum, then consider Brisbane 3 in the next round of expansion (19/20)

Anyone that doesn’t think the dolphins are an outstanding success is either a idiot or a troll

if Perth had half their success we would be reading paragraphs of spam

they are now close to the second biggest rugby league club on earth

you can see why people want brisban tigers as they will replicate this

Maybe we need to fast rack the beisbane Ipswich bid

Yes, point me to a post in the last few pages that says otherwise? Wtf are you actually arguing?

The point is Brisbane 2 was such a no brainer that should of been done ages ago that basically any club could of been an instant success

Yes they have. Dane said dolphins are time bomb & to check them out in a few years.Perth red always posting backhanded stuff.

Like I've said those old guys lost face when dolphins got up. Red was left with a box of firehawks merch which sits in his basement along with unwanted reds gear. BTW, Perth red's mum owns that basement

Emphasis on could

He's said its a bit early to make claims (although it's unlikely they will, he isn't wrong)

He also said their growth potential is smaller (not small) than an inner city rival to the Broncos - true

As far as I'm aware he has never said "The Dolphins are a failure" - which you and pippen in classic 'read some of the post and take it for an out of context spin' fashion have been arguing

Like I said anyone who thinks the dolphins will become another titans needs their heads checked

the jealousy from fans in wasteland states about how easy it is for clubs in heartland states to be excellent is frankly hilarious

For the record I personally think the dolphins are a huge success, but I also understand people saying it's a bit early to make the call, anything can happen (although as I said, it's unlikely)

What I do strongly believe in is giving the dolphins some proper time to set down some strong roots in the NRL and not bring in another Brisbane as team 18, unless we are willing to have the bye in place and not expand for another decade (unlikely)

And there’s the troll example again.

I think the 18th team will be either Perth or a Second NZ Team. They want to branch into new markets to attract more eye balls - FTA and Pay TV - so they can extract more money out of FTA and Pay TV

A 3rd Brisbane based won't increase viewership - same number of folk watching will still be watching - just more games they can watch involving QLD Teams.

Then you can have the 2 conference system of 9 teams - either a cross over conference finals series and or a finals series in each conference and the two conference winners then play off super bowl style.

The beauty of the conference system is that all teams in each conference will play the same teams the same number of times.

No hard or easy draws.

Have to get an 18th team ASAP to get rid of the bye which is ridiculous in it's allocation - teams having their second bye when some teams haven't even had their first bye.

On another post someone was saying Both Brisbane and Souths will have their first bye in Round 16 - Titans will have had their third bye in round 16.

Ridiculous also that teams are playing other teams a second time without playing all teams once.

A Proper home and away/ away and home draw as well - not this play 2 or 3 home games in a row and then 2 or 3 away.

The titans were a great success in year one, and year two and year three. Then it went to sht and largely stayed there.
Because their coe collapsed then the afl Introduced the suns and got Garry Ablett

dolphins have one hundred million in assets, are in a bigger market than Gold Coast and are an established club with 75 years of history

his point is they are not a northside club just because their Leagues club is in Red Hill. The Broncos have never represented any particular region of Brisbane. If anything that whole Red Hill/Paddington/Bardon/Ashgrove area would probably have less NRL followers than anywhere on the outskirts of the city due to it being such an affluent snobby area.

Read his original response to Pippen94. Technically he's wrong about southern Brisbane having a team based in it.

Why do you think the Lions chose Logan as the base for their Social Club?

The titans were a great success in year one, and year two and year three. Then it went to sht and largely stayed there.

Michael Searle was responsible for tarnishing the Titans' brand. His bid was built on the projected earnings from the Centre of Excellence after once it was built. The cost of construction surpassed estimates and it didn't generate the revenue he anticipated.

The luxury of adding the Dolphins is their foundations are rock solid. The club generates strong revenue from its shopping complex and Leagues Club. The Dolphins are generating strong corporate support because they're from a large metropolitan area that isn't over saturated and loves RL. Brisbane Tigers will more likely than not enjoy similar support from the corporate sector.

Any proposal from New Zealand and Perth will be heavily scrutinised to make sure it doesn't end up like the Titans. The WA government's support for a team could get Perth over the line. I don't see the NZ government putting in as much support for NZ2 and I haven't heard anything good about Chalmers. It's why I think the 18th licence will be Brisbane 3 or Perth.

The Broncos appeal is all over Brisbane and where there pokie den is located is irrelevant to that.

The Lions put a pokie den on a block of land that they purchased, they are not a "south Brisbane" team because of that.

A teams pokie den location has no bearing on fan support.
