Ok I've been thinking about this one. I think it's possible that Ipswich Jets could go it alone without Easts Tigers or Newtown Jets.
Why do I think that? Time!!
As several people on this thread have pointed out, a Brisbane 3 club is unlikely to enter NRL until anywhere between 2035 up to 2050.
If this is the case it means that they have 10-25 years to improve the financial outlook the club and build a stronger case for them to operate on their own without a merger. If they have the resources to do this they should go down this path. Go it alone.
If Easts Tigers won the Brisbane 3 bid and extended out to western corridor. I'm not sure that it would capture the imagination of people in those areas, because of the association and history the Jets have in the area. One of the reasons the Dolphins are already successful is their branding and the local sentimentality that the club has.
So to summarise I've done a slight I turn in that I think Ipswich Jets can go it alone if they use the time wisely to build a stronger case. Thoughts?
