If Bennett doesn't come early - and I assume he's forcing Brisbane's hand for a pay out - but if he doesn't then Souths could be in for a disastrous year.

To be fair most of the noise seems to be coming from Knights fans who conveniently forget they voted in Nathan Tinkler to sink the ship, and Broncos fans who conveniently forget the Ivan Henjak/Anthony Griffen years where they f**king blew.

On the other hand, Dragons fans seem like they are gagging to have him back.

Ehh its more to do with that meaning Mary gets the boot.

Both teams have players they don’t want to lose off contract, either team would be silly to let the incumbent stick around and get in those player’s ears

But it’s gonna come down to money. Brisbane would have to pay two million dollar coach salaries. Souths would be paying salaries to Madge, Seibold and Bennett

Tinkler or no Tinkler Bennett screwed our senior squad and cap, did nothing to develop juniors or scout under 30s, and has done nothing but try to blame others for his failures since he left.

Has that ever worked? I remember Hagan and Smith knew they were switching clubs in 2007 before the beginning of 2006. Smith lasted a few months while Hagan saw out the year.

Has any other coach who knew they were switching before the year even started ever gone well?

Bennett's style will compliment Souths better. A few years ago he made the comment that Souths were predictable, which Rabbits fans took exception to, but he actually meant it as a compliment. Bennett loves nothing more than a team that plays to a consistently high standard and isn't worried if they aren't making the highlights reels. Bennett also enjoys having leaders in his side and in GI & Burgess, he couldn't ask for much better.

Because Robinson, Green, Madge and even Seibs were all the best available when they were appointed?

Souths have appointed Bennett because they haven’t had time to do due diligence on anyone else before the season prep starts and are expecting a straight swap to happen at any moment. It’s untenable to have a coach with his future committed elsewhere to continue to coach at his incumbent club.

It’s short termism. Ultimately, it won’t be in the best interests of Souths.

It's a good signing for Bennett - he has a halves pairing at Souths. Unless he takes a set against them.

He failed miserably with the halves at Brisbane.

Definitely not.

But..... it could very well be a laugh a minute if they do stay at their current clubs and the pressure starts to build with a few early season losses. Then the media circus will start and it could all get extremely ugly for both coaches, clubs and playing groups. The media will go into hyper-drive and Wayno will just love that.
