We have years of pain ahead of us to even be competitive because there are not enough quality players available to bottom teams to recruit….. years of neglect have got us to this position and it will take years to dig us out of this mess…. assuming we make all the right decisions along the way which is even problematic

What Dragon Blood wrote is a huge possibility. But I really hope it does not happen. Bud will kill it in the Tigers "if he stays fit". They gave him 4 years which is huge. At least they realise his potential. I have always thought the Tigers are better run that Saints. They get hammered by the press but the recent coaches are Maguire, Cleary, Potter and Taylor where as Saints had Price, Mary and Hook. They buy the best hooker in the comp in Api. Have a gun fullback and decent forwards coming through (1 debuted for NSW) with the addition of Papalii, Bateman, Klemmer. They at least get the fans excited with some good recruitment and coaching options which is nothing to what the Saints fans have seen in the last 10 years.
Better run than us? In the last 11 years (including this one) we've finished in front of the Tigers 8 times and we've been rubbish. We're a basket case but they're are on a different level. They might have bought some 'names' but those names have been terrible and taken them all the way to 17th. I don't blame Bud for leaving but his chances of having any success at the Tigers are worse than if he stayed with us.

lol lol lol lol. Tigers are better run than Saints? I’ll have some of the drugs you are on please. Our management have been diabolical, yes, but the idiots at the Tigers are a truly special headcase. Run by complete morons. Completely incompetent. Appoint a coach who’d been out of the game for years plus older than Hook and the plan is to replace him with a complete rookie just because he’s a Tiger’s legend. Talk about asking for trouble.
I question the wisdom of Sullivan going there. It’s literally jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
I really wish he was staying with us but sadly I can see him wasting another 4 years at that giant clusterf&ck.

Yep 100% agree completely inept mismanagement by the club and pathways over a long period.

Sullivan has pretty good upper-body strength and thick quads, however as an observer I can't help but notice that below the knees he isn't as proportioned meaning from the knees down his calves have not developed to support the upper body, and hence why in my opinion he has constant hammy injuries.

If I was his trainer I would have him develop his calve muscles to support the upper body mass, it's simple right?

I understand that genetics may be at play with his body makeup ( I even heard a rumor that Arnold Swartzenalphabet could not grow his calve muscles so he went for implants to win the Mr Universe titles), but still, the club and its pathways team should have picked this up in the early stages and acted upon it for the future.

Favoritism is clearly shown towards a player that could potentially be in jail for a serious crime, this for me comes down to the relationship between Crook and (C)Hunt. It is clear as day that (C)hunt doesn't like playing with Bud and his preference was always Hammer because Hammer is < than Bud.

So Flanno and the club let go of Bud, Hammer goes to prison, and Flanno fails in his attempts to sign big-name players for 2024 under the guise of our genius million-dollar 9 playing 7 and (C)Hunt the selfish @#$@%^ then reneges realizing that he will win a wooden spoon instead of a grand final in the next 2 years and does a runner.

What do we have left? More STGI nepotism with Junior K Flanno that was cut from the Rorters and can't land a starting WWE spot in the 17 at the Bullgrubs.

When S Flanno fails in 24 and halfway through 25 is sacked, our shining light in the armor of the great Saint George saviour Jr D Young "master of defensive structures" will be the next solid contracted coach for a period of 10 years on a not negotiable results driven contact.

WOW we fans have so much to look forward to in the next 20 years when robots play the (game) entertainment. At the moment I prefer to watch the Bot battles on foxtel than the WWE rubbish that once was rugby league

Sorry for the rant, I needed to put it out there for my own sanity
1. Arnie has never had implants. Back in the day, most body builders didn't pay attention to the calves. It was only after Arnie lost a major competition to someone who had seriously developed calves did he realise it was another body part that he needed to focus on.

2. Visibly smaller calves doesn't mean weak calves. Bud might just have a calf belly that doesn't allow for visibly big calves. Calves are notoriously difficult to increase in size. Unless you are born with large calves it's likely you will never be able to "manufacture" visibly large calves.

3. There are any multitude of reasons for hamstring injuries - a well balanced leg is just one of them (again, this doesn't mean size). There's no reason to suggest balanced strength conditioning hasn't been applied. There may be other issues such as lower back problems and poor flexibility. In fact, there's been suggestions that large quads may also be a significant contributor to hamstring injury. And it's well known that the chance of reoccurrence is higher if you've injured them once.

We will see what Sully delivers.
I'd be more disappointed if he went to a good club.
But Tigers.don't really care.
Bateman and Klemmer are no spring chickens.

DP, Dragon Blood is not making assumptions he is expressing his opinion which I actually agree with.
With regards to negative agenda that is your assumption and totally untrue,I simply call it as i see it.
I simply look at what the bottom clubs are currently doing for their roster and I look at what we are doing.
We had a golden opportunity to restructure a large part of our cap but we made bad decisions.
So far we have signed one solid first grader, allowed our most promising junior to negotiate a new deal and kept a player that wanted to leave the club and got us nowhere in six years.
In my opinion when it comes to recruitment for 2024 we are miles behind the bottom clubs of the Tigers and Dogs
Fair response SM, please don’t think that I am satisfied with the clusterf**k over the past decade and as we know the board is the key to this , but for us we have no control on the makeup of it. I also acknowledge some recent activity appears to be coming from one person only, who is not officially employed yet ! But, we all don’t know what is going on behind the scenes and historically the Dragons prefer it this way.
Also rather be positive on things anyway ( although our club surely does test our resolve ) I think we all will be able comment with more authority by Xmas when players can commit after seasons end and November 1st.

To the surprise of absolutely no-one except the Tigers management, Tim Sheens has failed and been dumped after one season

Geez they’re hopeless. As bad as it’s been supporting the Dragons for the last decade I can only imagine how bad it feels supporting the Tigers. The worst part is the self serving morons who run both clubs always come out unscathed. Any other form of business would have sacked the lot of them years ago.

Good luck with that other joint venture club Bud, you will need it.
Sadly I think it is a case of "out of the frying pan into the fire". I am sorry to see him go. Bud has talent but has been plagued by injury and bad selection policies. I hope he does well, but not against the Dragons!

Another talented junior not given ago and told to leave.
Who are the Dragons giving local talent big hopes then letting them go and becoming superstars at other club.
He will be the next Jonathan Thurston story all over again.

I actually think many supporters have come to accept Sullivan’s departure given his horrendous injury prone nature. Of course there is also a strong argument to keep him - no one disputes his potential. It’s kind of like the fans have accepted it because it is Flanagan’s call and he has a ‘plan’.

The real fear for me is not who we are losing but who we are keeping around. I refer to Ben Hunt our best and worst player rolled into one.

The new coaches are pinning their hopes to a disgruntled captain who has lost the fans and who has never gelled with the playing group. To most outside the Dragons it seems logical but to those of us who have lived it view it as an easy and somewhat cowardly option.

At the end of the day Hunt is a good player who clearly sees himself as bigger than the club. He has little influence as a captain and his press conferences are lacking of any inspiration. For all the millions he has earnt we can only associate his face with losing and unable to clinch a match - exactly what he is there to do. Think of all the spines he has a chance to be part of since joining in 2018, none have been successful.

Maybe it can all sort itself out but it just feels too dysfunctional to see us as a successful team.

I feel Hasler has his hooks in and is doing what he did to Saab with Hunt. I feel he will play the disgruntled and homesick card and leave at the end of the season. Unless Flanno can weave some magic and bring some talent to show we will be a force in 2024.
