NEWCASTLE captain Danny Buderus has hit breaking point.

Buderus will miss Newcastle's crucial game against Sydney Roosters at EnergyAustralia Stadium on Saturday night after sustaining a grade-one medial ligament tear in his left knee in the Knights' 44-0 loss to Melbourne at Olympic Park on Monday night.

He might also miss the trip to Auckland for the game against the Warriors the following Saturday.

Buderus desperately needs a rest to relieve chronic Achilles tendonitis in both legs, so the knee injury could prove a blessing in disguise.

The grind of another torrid representative campaign and backing up for Newcastle has left the 29-year-old hooker physically exhausted and psychologically drained and he hopes a week or two on the sidelines will recharge him for the Knights' tightrope walk to the finals.
But the loss of their leader could not have come at a worse time for the Knights, who are already dealing with an injury crisis on par with the one they endured in 2005.

Of the 36 players to have played NRL this season, coach Brian Smith said just 21 were available for the Storm game and he faced a similar selection scenario this week.
Buderus saw Knights physician Neil Halpin yesterday and will have a scan today to confirm Halpin's preliminary diagnosis.

Halpin has not yet ruled Buderus out and will assess him later this week but expected the knee injury to keep him on the sideline "for a week or two".

"It's just not working for me playing like this," a frustrated Buderus said yesterday.
"It's hard to get your head around it because you know every game it's going to drive you nuts … I didn't train all week until the day before the game [against Melbourne] and it felt awful."

Terence Seu Seu will likely fill in for Buderus against the Roosters.

Well can it get any worse

F**k

That is about all that can be said.

*edit*

Having said that however, Seu Seu will only get better with every FG game he plays. And Michael Young is more than competent fill-in when Terry is off the field.

I daresay Mick Young will start since he hasnt been getting much game time lately with Seu Seu off the bench.

I can see TSS carving up the Roosters now, they have some big forwards who can leak a few points up the middle.

Well atleast we know why Buderus is frustrated, he doesnt like not training and then playing it seems.

What is it with injuries before I blamed the lack of facilities but all of these are now top notch and manned by qualified staff?

Maybe Raiduh69 cursed us?

For f**ks sake. Why do we seemingly get a never-ending injury list? What happened to the whole "we're up to speed with everyone else in the NRL in regards to player training facilities? On the plus side, at least we're now no shot at making the semis. We may win this week, but 44-0 next week isnt out of the equation.

we've had a lot of tendonitis problems this year - that's generally caused by overworking.

Its the BIHK curse! (Buderus was out the first weekend after Origin 1 along with Kidley, Simmo etc)

Has BIHK vanished?

On the note of Buderus, we better have our attacking plays finetuned this week in tuning, cause we are certainly going to leak points and we have to win by scoring plenty.

If anything with Buderus being out it will bring Gidley back into hooker more often, where he was so damaging before origin.

I hate this crap. We can never get a full strength side on the park. Every year its injury after injury. Seu Seu, Gidley and Young are all playing like sh*t, someone has to step up and take control of the forwards and none of those guys are capable. Seu Seu isnt on the field long enough, Young is too busy running around like a chicken with its head cut off making 2 metre runs and Kids isnt a structured player he cant organise, he just plays. I wouldn't mind Luke Walsh at hooker playing a Farah/Smith kind of style for this one. If Mullen is back that is.

If we had a full strength side we'd go great guns. I reckon this could be a team:

1. Gidley
2. McManus
3. Macdougall
4. Carmont
5. Thaiday
6. Mullen
7. Walsh
8. Sargent
9. Buderus
10. Perry
11. Simpson
12. Paterson/Reynoldson
13. Abraham

14. Taia
15. Young
16. Royal
17. Tighe

Pretty good side with heaps of experience and a few reps i.e. bedsy, kidley, mullo, maddog, perry, reynoldson, simmo
