this offseason the nrl under the superior guidance of gallop need to set up a choke definition committee, so that the fans can finally have clear set borders to accuse teams of choking

how is the dogs/dragons exit any different?
The Dogs put in a performance their supporters can and should be proud of. The Dragons surrendered meekly. That is the difference.

That Dogs side tonight would have belted the Dragons of the last two months that is for sure.

Best crowd averages in Sydney and the majority of the team of the year?

Not to mention when you look at them last year compared to this year, a change in attitude on and off the field.

2009 will be the season Bennett couldn't get the Dragons to perform in the big games while the Bulldogs will be seen as a success story title or no title.

So why are the Dragons labelled Chokers this year?

What's the difference between the Dragons and the Bulldogs?

IMO the Dragons didn't choke neither did the Dogs. But the Dogs supporters are quick to hand out the Choking tag to other teams. Now they have one themselves.

If it's good for the Dragons it's good for the Dogs. they both have had a similar season.

History! Every time St's get talked uo they fall before the final hurdle.

Losing one final game is careless, two is choking!

and therefore
this just in, choke of the year

Ok even if the dogs did choke i think choke of the year would have to go to the dragons who lost consecutive finals game to Parra and Bris who finished eight and sixth respectively, therefore the dogs is only second best choke of the year

Neither did the Dragons or Titans, probably shows because of the length of the competition timing of form is more valuable than consistent form. Having your team primed for the finals eg Storm this year instead of limping into the finals or tiring into the finals eg Dragons or Storm last year is valuable.

Not really. I'll remember the Dogs of 09 as the team who took them from wooden spooners to 2nd place premiership contenders. The Dragons on the other hand are just the team who dominated the regular season (Again!) and choked on the big stage, giving up without a fight or care in the world.

it just goes to show u that 20 odd rounds means sfa at the end of the day. if 8th can make the gf, the salary cap is working. but now we need a new finals format to reward the teams that perform all year, or leading the comp means nothing

The team that finished 1st got to play the 8th team at their own home ground and if they won they would have went straight into the prelim but they lost that advantage when they couldnt beat the 8th placed team

yeah thats a slight reward, but does it justify the effort for all those weeks of putting in.

1st place get it better than any other side in the finals. What it means is you cannot expect to go into the finals with anything other than your A game and expect to win.

wouldn't 2nd place get it just as good, either way they're getting a rest or playn away. but i agree with the A game. the comp is so much more even this year, maybe finishing higher deserves more reward?
