Well who said we were dead? We're on fire.

Captain, by my count that's now 7 :

Captain
Dave
Miss Vaelieki
Zef
Habib
AB
Brent Webb

If these numbers are correct Captain, then I'd suggest in the spirit of the game we really only need one more - and perhaps could even do it with what we've got.

If the game stays at 5, rotating 7-8 will give evryone a good play and a good rest I'd think.

Well I'm in Captain, probably won't go up till Wed but I'll beat the deadline.

May I suggest you re-post the team here as a reminder.

Captain, team.

Apoligies for posting an old RL.com job, but quite frankly what I was planning on posting ended up as garbage - and the more I tinkered with it, the more smelly it became.

I should've went with the other idea.

I promise I'll be back on me game next round Captain, just going through the "2nd Season Syndrome" at present - but I still got a few hot topics up my sleeve

Anyway, we got 4 up so far, looking good - champagne tomorrow.

Onya Dave, Brent.

You know I reckon if only we would've had a couple of mates with us - we would've towelled those Broncos.

Anyway.....

Captain, I do believe it's time to convene the Disciplinery Commitee. I admit I recycled an old one again - but Dave & Brent put in the hard yards only to be let down by deserters.

So it's beers for me, Dave and Brent - the no-shows can go and...............

Good work to those who posted. There were some good ones there. Sorry i didn't post, i even had a post written ready to go but hadn't posted it yet since i was only a reserve when my computer decided to crash! Lost quite a bit so just rebuilding it basically (posting this from a friend's comp). Should be up and running on the weekend so count me in next round.

i shoved myself on the bench knowing that i wouldnt have time to whip up anything being such a going out week.

I reminded Habib and Anastabation several timees. Havent heard back from habib at all, but Anastabation got a call early on the wednesday morning inviting him to the origin and in all the excitement he forgot about the sevens.

Well, as a great poet (Shakespeare?) once said - "F*** me dead".

First thing is who's still in? I know Dave's in and let me say up front that Dave is the rock upon whom we shall built the foundation for this team in seasons to come.

That's a magnificent post Dave - I can't say i agree with it all but it's well thought out and all the rest and I reckon you're up for a perfect 10. And besides which - you know how i LOVE a plan.

I admit I'll be regurgiting old RL posts for the rest of this season (or however long they last), but I'm in for the long haul and I guess what we need to know now is who else is in for the long haul?

Miss Vaeliki? Brent Webb? AB? Who's out there?

Don't go worrying too much about the rest of this season as we're in a rebuilding phase (around Dave), but at the same time lets not chuck it in.

So who's up for this game? Dave's in, I'll regurgitate - who else is gonna have a crack?

After all, we're playing The Roosters - and we can't lay down for them, plenty of others, but NEVER The Roosters.

Regards,
Zef.

.... and Willow.

We need a Salary Cap and a draft.

Or at least some sort of maximum punters per team thing. At the moment when a new face turns up everyone goes rabid desperatley trying to get in first - and then they warehouse them.

Its true that whenever a new player comes onto the market, several teams jockey for best position. Unfortunately, there is no way we can force a free agent to play with any team in particular. If a Penrith supporter wants to join the Panthers for example, then how we can rightly stand in their way?

But I hear what you're saying and we'll see just how many teams get the full compliment of players this week. After that, I think there should a system where the teams with the more solid outfits should step back and allow the weaker teams to have first approaches on the any newcomers. IMO, these approaches should be made in public. But there is no way to police this or make it law, so it will have be to an honour system.

Yesterday I sent out a general email to all 500 members of Legends World of Sport. It was to advertise the F7s. So hopefully that will filter through to a few more folk registering. I noticed last night that there was a higher number of new 'guests' reading the matches forum.

The more ways we can come up with to attract lurkers, the better our chances of gaining new players.

That's true and nor would we want to. However I still reckon there should be a max Punters cap to stop warehousing. If there's just too many Panthers then there should be Panthers I, Panther II etc. - Not just Panthers with 25 punters on the roster (settle down Panthers, using you as an example only).

Anyway who knows? there must be some Parra-Bulldogs supporters lurking out there somewhere.

Yes... I hasten to add that I don't mean to single out the Panthers - that was just an example.

I agree that we need to promote discussion in this area but I also think that it's every teams responsibility to bolster their own numbers through out-sourcing ie inviting others to join.
Waiting for free agents to wander the main street of Forums Central isn't the best way to increase player numbers.
Still, as always, every effort will be made to attract people to the site.

My fellow Parra-Buldogs, this is your un-elected Captain speaking, and we do need to talk.

First point on the agenda is just who is solid for the rest of this current season? Now I’m in and I’ll be posting new stuff from now on such is my determination to lend support to Dave who’s been carrying this team without complaint for too long now. I assume and hope that Dave’s still gonna stick up his hand, but let’s be frank – he deserves a break as he’s put in every game I’ve seen The Parra-Dogs play and I’m worried the strains of a hectic season will lead to burnout if we don’t give him a break.

Season II watch this kid go – he’s the game’s next superstar, if we don’t burn him out first.

I’m fine as I’ve only been regurgitating old posts so far, so if need be I’m available for every remaining game.

But what about the rest?

Who’s in and who’s not?

Which brings me to the second point on the agenda – are we gonna play out the season? I say hell yes and if necessary I’ll take on the f*****’ lot of ‘em on my own if it means keeping the team alive – but I ain’t gonna waste my time if I’m only wasting my time.

So let’s see some hands please – or alternatively declare yourself out.

Now if we just don’t have the numbers to see this season out, I’m gonna have a talk to Willow to see if we can go with some sort of trial - invitational team just to get some games for those that want one between now and the end of the season – maybe some Punters from other teams will have a run with us just to make up the numbers (if required). Obviously this would mean we’d have to forfeit our points and probably any we already have (to keep it fair), but if we ain’t got the numbers for “our” team at least we can have a game and provide our prospective opponents someone to have a game against – remember when we forfeit, we deny the team we were supposed to play a game too. And that’s just not in the right spirit of this whole thing.

And lastly – looking ahead to F5’s Season II. I propose a team name change. The reason being is that wether we like it or not, Parramatta and The Bulldogs are two teams despised by most other opposition supporters (hell, we even despise each other). I’m thinking if we go with some generic name like “The Lobsters” or something similar than it may be easier to attract new punters who don’t want the stigma of being associated with either Parra or The Dogs. An example is one potential recruit I was negotiating with earlier in the season but whom eventually turned me down because (and I quote) “I just can’t play for The Dogs.”

Maybe we can call ourselves “The Scum Of The Earth”?

Anyway, all these things and more can be settled at a later date. All’s I need to know NOW and right NOW – is who’s up for the next game?

I’m in, who’s with me?

Don’t chuck it in yet.

Regards,
Zef.
