From smh.com.au today

If they lose to Melbourne on Sunday, the Bulldogs' next match is likely to be in Perth after confirmation the club would play a pre-season trial against South Sydney there in February. There will also be a premiership match in Perth between Cronulla and either the Warriors or Melbourne in round five or six of next season's competition.

Finally, some clubs having the balls to promote the game in emerging markets. Well done to the Dogs and the Bunnies

]Oh grow up for once  At least we're trying, more than I can say for Captain Headslam.

Yes what a good idea. As an adertisement for Rugby League let's send the club soley responsible for the worst headlines regarding our game in living memory! What a brilliant idea!!

If you think your clubs' antics were ignored over their, think again. The AFL friendly media ripped into our game as a direct result of the actions of your club and it's players.

Rugby League should be promoted in those states as we would eventually like to have teams from there playing in our comp, but your club is the least qualified/capable/competent and fit to advertise our game.

And the Raiders too? No, I'm not forgetting, I just want to see a NATIONAL Rugby League and a big part of that is moving to establish a presence in Perth and Adelaide.

Actually the worst headlines in our game would go too Hoppa and that was world wide news in countrys that don't even play League but we don't hear you go off about Manly and the Wests Tigers taking games to other places to promote the game now do we

So what are the Roosters doing about promoting the game in areas in which it needs to be promoted ????

Grow up Chook.

The Bulldogs are making an effort to remove the dirt that clings to their name. They are making an effort for the league and should get some credit.

Of course they could contribute by chucking a hissy and threatening to take the game back to the courts to remove a salary cap that allows half the teams to exist and compete

Rugby league never worked in Perth the first time round....An interesting choice, that...Are they testing out the market for a future return do you think?....Or just giving the League-starved WA fans some live action?

Either way - it can't be a bad thing...

Off season games are held where ever the clubs wish to play them, this was arranged by either the Bulldogs or Souths not the NRL

Yeah but we never had a real go either. Matches were played at the WACA and the crowd worked out that they couldn't see the game, so they stopped coming. A rectangular field and worthwhile TV coverage would go a long way towards establishing RL over there. That's why Melbourne are struggling.

Yeah, its ALL about the TV really!....Melbourne have a decent ground - would be better if the bloody running track wasn't there, but still...their crowds are better than several Sydney sides over the past few years - but the almost non-existent media coverage all but STIFLES any progress the Storm make on the field!

It's damn HARD to get ahead, when no bugger even knows what you're achieving - through no real fault of their own!! : /

The tragic little Gay-FL band have done an EXCELLENT job of keeping League under their thumb down there....and don't think they don't have people in HIGH places....making sure that does not change!! :(

I honestly dont remember what ended up killing off the Reds though - They were one of the victims of the StupidLeague war, werent they?

No they where victims of the other clubs as the expense of travel over to WA came to a too higher toll (even after the reds had offered to pay for all expenses it would be too much of a strain of the players and game - well that was what was argued)

Hmmmm, that's harsh!...That's a fully BS reason that, for killing a club though, if that was what was offered at the time!

I wonder what the REAL story was...??? :?

maybe easts could go west and play their games at henson in front of 47 supporters and 2 dogs like the old days when they were still `massive' and not watched by paddo yuppies who've given up on the swans or sydney kings ... they could even park the mercs and benzs round the sideline and cheer on legends like trewhella, mike eden and marty gurr .. 2 bob tinpot club with no soul .. never have had one and never will
