5 vs 3

Majority wins of injured key players

Anasta,Patten and Matua
5 vs 6
;-)

I would hardly call them "key players". Good players yes, but definitely not key players.

I'm just sick of Phil Gould when he talks on these matches, he just goes on and on about how Australian teams will always win these games by 50 or 60. I don't care how much he knows about the game, he gets plain irritating. I don't mind him when he does other stuff, so I guess it is the early mornings.

Same with me. Listening to him going on with that sort of crap that early in the morning doesn't go down well.

It especially pisses me off when he calls Great Britain England, which he does all the time. They have played as Great Britain since WWII for god's sake!

A few more penalties and the threat of a sin-bin would have settled things down I think, but come on I've seen far worse.

The game was never out of control and apart from a bit of niggling from both sides and a few minor flare-ups the game was incident free.

What concerned me was how many forward passes seemed to be let go for both sides, this isn't union and someone should have been in position to see them.

Ok they are not as valuable as those five but they do play as a team and contribute as well.
Even Anastasi,Grimaldi,Hughes and Lolesi should get a mention

So don't listen to him. I changed channels at halftime and switched off after the final hooter, works a treat if you don't want to hear Phool's arrogance.

The Patten thing looked intentional to me I think they had been having a go at each other before that. That was the only thing that was over the top all the other niggle you would expect to see.

Both sides did it, the cheap shots.

The only complaint I have about the game is, the damn ref let the Dogs lay in the tackles far to long for most of the match, but mainly in the second half. There were times I thought the dogs players owed the tackled player flowers and a phone call tomorrow they were on them that long.

I must admit I thought the same thing myself. But as long as they were allowed to get away with it they were going to keep doing it.

I don't blame the Dogs for it, hell of course they were gonna keep doing it if they got away with it, no team wouldn't. I blame the ref.

Phil Gould is so arrogant. I wish he would just shut up.

He probably dosent even watch superleague, but just ripps of the brittish game, (or any game not in sydney for that matter)

He whinges and finds excuses for losses always. he never admits one team was better

Firstly; I am not a Dogs fan one bit but Sonny Bill Williams is not a sore loser..in fact, he was the one who led from the front in the last 20 mins and almost won the game for the Dogs.

He sat Marcus Bai on his ass with a great hit and only started swinging because of the late hits pulled off by the Leeds fowards.

Give him a break because as he gets older and matures he will be the best player in the NRL..

Just caught the end of the match on the reply
(had a big one last night so didnt watch it live and didnt know there was a replay)

and i must say the way the dogs finished the last 5 minutes is nothing short of disgraceful. And the ref let them get away with murder in the play the ball in the final 4 minutes #-o

The Bulldogs did finish the game as sore losers. Matua throwing punches on the last tackle just shows that the frustration of coming so close but not close enough upset the dogs.
Gould was saying that the dogs would of won by 40 with a full strength side.
There is plenty of ifs and buts and the only thing i know is that Leeds are world club champions. The dogs were missing a few players but did have the majority of there grand final team in the side so no excuses.

Why don't you actually come out of your hole and show who you support instead of hiding behind your own alias and bagging and baiting?

Same goes for the bloke who made the original post, and Gregstar too. It's pathetic.

To those complaining about Gould, surely he can't have been as bad as the English commentators that I heard on the Fox replay? I didn't manage to catch the live coverage, so maybe you guys had them as well, but they were just bloody unbearable, calling for penalties every time a Leeds player got tackled, and ever Canterbury penalty "could have gone either way." They even said that El Masri's try was "a little bit controversial because of the penalty."

I guess the worst for me though was this little gem:

20 mins to go, Leeds 38-12
"You can start getting the silver polish out, there's no way the Bulldogs will come back from here, the trophy is going to Headingly."

10 minutes to go, from the same voice
"Well you can never count the Bulldogs out, and we all knew that from the start."

Give me Ray Warren and co any day.

They are a painful couple of commentators. It seems they just need to talk, but don't know enough about the game to fill 80 minutes with credible commentary, so they speak absolute crap.

I didn't notice Bailey as much, but Matuia was just ridiculous, especially early on in the game. The thing with Patten wasn't much really, I don't think it was intentional.

He's right though isn't he? If the NRL champs took the match seriously we would win all the time! But the doggies didn't, Folks catagorically stated that he placed only little importance on this match... last year the panthers sent all their players over, but sent them in cold and without much preparation... The year before, Ricky Stuart had decided he'd had enough of the poms trying to say their teams were better because they usually win the WCC, so he sent the roosters best side and organised 2 warm up matches. The result? The Roosters thrashing St Helens 38-0! It speaks for itself.
