Back to the Bundesliga...

Starts Friday night (Saturday morning AET) with Bayern playing Gladbach. Should be a great season.

:lol::lol:

Yeah, totes going to stay up waiting to listen to a championship game.

Lol..

On that note, isn't there a Leeds thread you can bang on about them and ask dumb questions in instead of doing it in this one?

Did you stay up? We won in the 90th minute. Was awesome. MOT.

 ..and not even you care enough to comment on it.

It is what happens when one club just rigs the rules to stop competition.
Still gives the glory hunters reason to be cheerful.

It's been great the last few years - I fear that this year and further down it's going to become an absolute pisstake, like the Rangers-less SPL.

Bayern have no need for Lewandowski and had very little need for Gotze...moves simply to cripple their arch-rival. It's disgusting.

Lol I love how this plays out

2011 "Bayern have no depth they need to make signings
2012 "Bayern spend too much money"
2013 "Bayern steal from their rivals"

The Reus transfer was okay though and it's always been this way anyway, why is it suddenly a big deal when it happens to the hipsters?

Pep wanted Neymar or Götze so they went with the German, no brainer.

I watch more Bundesliga than anyone here besides you, that's the best part.

The most popular product is more often than not the best product. Coca cola, tobacco, EPL etc...

Let's be honest though who is your competition? BunniesMan? He writes his name on his underwear ffs

If you write articles you should hit up bundesliga fanatic uk they're always posting on Facebook about wanting new writers.

I agree about the strength of the league. I wouldn't sign Götze but I would sign Lewandowski, you can never pass up a world class striker. Their concern now is to dominate Europe the way Barcelona did. I don't like it because it took a few years to build to what Heynckes did and now it seems Pep wants to change a lot. This season is a write off in Europe. What's sadder about talent is most will be sent off outside of the league. Bayern always stole from rivals but the gap now is widening. It does no favours to FCB either in reality. But football is heading down the path of champions league only. There will eventually a super champions league. Maybe it'll happen in 20 years but it will there's just too much money to be made.

The off field decisions are even worse. Hoeness and co are destroying the active fan culture at the club. A really fantastic on field season tainted by actions against the fans.

Hey I'll still watch it, I'm just playing devil's advocate. I've written articles (http://www.theroar.com.au/2012/05/17/english-premier-league-not-so-exciting/) about how much I enjoy it but to an outside observer who just sees one team gobbling up the rest, what do you think they're going to assume?

I'd assume most folk around australia with only a casual interest in the game would think of Scotland at the moment and how poor that league is.

Of course, few opportunities to actually watch the league doesn't help. They certainly aren't on their own in the bundesliga in this regard, I'm pretty sure in Portugal, for example, Porto and Benfica lost a combined total of one game between them in the league

Unfortunately, as TT says, a super champions league type comp is inevitable.

You can't see it happening?

What makes you so sure? The logistics of it will be difficult but not impossible with the amount of cash likely behind such a concept.

If United declared tomorrow they were leaving the prem to join a euro league to make an extra bob or two then there would be riots.

Imagine West Ham saying 'forget the local rivals and the honour of playing proper clubs from the North (ok maybe not the second bit) you get to watch us play f*cking Frieberg on a Saturday afternoon'.

Who is going to drive this forward?

The clubs all want to be the best in their own country. The Champs league is a cash cow and the best teams get to play in a cup comp to see who the best is. Everyone is happy.

The top clubs already play each other all the time. Any more games and the champs league will lose everything that makes the competition good.

Plus we would have to put up with god awful Euro refs and that would be double annoying.

I agree many wouldnt be happy about it, I defs won't be.

What it would do to many local leagues would be a disgrace..

But as is said often, money talks..

I don't imagine it will happen anytime in the immediate future.

i just don't see it. To much History for clubs just to cut and run.

I don't believe their is any push from any team to leave there own country. If the best of Scotland and England cannot merge to create a bigger league, there is no chance other leagues doing it.

Nothing to do with German football, f**k off

A conversation about the top Euro teams joining a break away league has nothing to do with German Football?

Well we all thought Holywood FC and Dortmund did alright last year, but if you disagree then i guess we better talk about German footy.

Anything interesting happening?

Some midfielder is leaving Bayern to join the VW corporate factory team.

At Bayern Thiago is going to be first choice holding midfield, Martinez back to CB and Pig Humper is unsure where he is going to play.

Anything interesting happening to the other clubs?
