Jailed WR Burress to be released on good behavior in June

NEW YORK -- Former New York Giants star Plaxico Burress will get out of prison in June, ending his sentence in a gun case a few months early.

State prison system spokeswoman Linda Foglia said officials decided Friday that Burress was eligible for time off for good behavior, so he can be freed after serving 21 months of his two-year sentence. His release date is set for June 6.

Burress pleaded guilty in 2009 to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He went to a nightclub with a gun that went off and shot him in the leg in November 2008, and he didn't report the shooting to authorities.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has ruled that Burress would be reinstated and eligible to sign with a team upon completing his sentence.

4 days left. I hope the Iggles go after him too. He is definitely on my top 3 players to go grab for us along with Stephen Tulloch & either of the Cromartie boys (Dominique if that trade happens, but there has to be some clause in Antonios contract about NOT impregnating half of PA, that dude can knock a woman UP!)

Even though I think he's past it, a team will certainly throw the $$$ at him.

Burress has nothing left to offer the league.

I'd agree if a team was looking for a #1 WR, he wouldn't cut it. But as a deep threat OR end zone jumper he brings something to the table. DJax is 5"10, Maclin 6", Moss 5"8, Avant 6", & Cooper at 6"3 the exception. But Riley is still young so a competent 6"5 jumper would be a nice addition.

I just think with Plax playing a bit part when needed, coupled with DJax & Maclins speed as well as McCoy & Vick punching it in on the ground, that would make for a scary, genuine all around attack.

"I would hate to see him go to where I think he's going to go, from talking to him," said Jacobs, who speaks to Burress weekly and helps his wife and children. "It's pretty tough to deal with all those different combinations that they can present. ...
"(The Eagles) have a lot of dynamic players down there. "It wouldn't be a bad thing, he thinks, to go down there, because he wants to win. He wants to have a shot to win a Super Bowl right away. I don't know if that's the right mixture for him to do it, but they definitely have a lot of talent."
Jacobs also said Burress has told him he wouldn't mind playing for former Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, now coach of the St. Louis Rams.

Lets go Eagles!!

I think he could be a really good red zone reciever and god knows the eagles need one, we havent got a really tall physical guy to go up and get it in the end zone
Jackson and Maclin are quick fineese guys which makes it hard for them in the red zone... burress as a 4th wideout for red zone packages, a quality LB and a top line CB

then we are superbowl bound

Bradon Jacobs who is apparently close to him and his family seems to think there is no chance he's back at the giants
