I think that there are obviously serious issues for us to deal with regarding the salary cap and the re-signing of key players. It will be hard to make certain decisions about players who are nearing the end of their careers as well as retaining promising players like Inu, Keating and Mateo.

But in this thread we should just celebrate what a great club man Luke Burt has been. I can't believe that he's only 28 years old. But that photo of him at 18 .. gee he looks so skinny. Can't believe he was playing first grade. Burt I think missed most of 2000 with injury. He came back mid-2001 and was fantastic. His form in 2002 was brilliant. I think that the SMH said that Burt's "sparkling" form at full back was one of the few bright lights during our ten game losing streak that year. He was good in 2005 and since 2007 he's been exceptional. That he took a pay cut shows the quality of the man. Truly a club great and by all accounts a great guy.

well you've picked the wrong bloke to argue, because I for one loathe the thought giving it to a player representing our club, so don't even bother going there with me..

the fact that you believe that INU is worth more than Burt is in itself still arguble and you have no facts other than potential to back it up,

youve completely missed the point with this thread, we are celebrating the fact that his achieved what he has at this club as we do with any player playing 100, 200 or 267 at this club.

as for his pay packet, my information is that he was on a very moderate pay packet and has taken even less this time as the article rightly stated, you can form your own conclusions what that is.

really? i could swear it says something about the word "re-sign" = open slather. maybe suggest creating a 200 game thread so you can tug lyrical with no objections?

I'm another convert. Quite happy to say I got it wrong.
3 years ago I was calling for his sacking.
Since then, he has become a complete winger, to the point where I am actually disappointed if he isn't in the team.
Burty, thankyou for providing me with such entertainment. You are a great player. Congratulations for proving me wrong.

You are a champ.

Suity

I have to say this quote sums me up word for word as well. I will also add that now i'm defending Burt's inclusion in the team at the expense of others to people all the time now. Never ever thought i'd be doing that a few years ago

By the end of 2012:

At an average of 211 points a season he will have scored 1972 points - a Club record.

Averaging 22 games a season will see him on 265 - equal second in terms of most caps (because Hindy will end up in 1st)

Leading tryscorer

Already has:

Most points in a game, currently held with 28 (twice)

Leading pointscorer currently playing in the NRL.

**********

Burt is THE MAN. He is the most dependable player at the Club along with Hindmarsh. He is the most versatile player at the Club. He is THE MAN.

End of.

Legend.
