Buying sponsors products.

Have anyone here ever purchased a product because it was associated with your team or league in general? Did the league sponsorship make it stand out when you purchased it?

I bought Pepsi over Coke in the mid 90s but apart from that, no. I couldn't afford a P&O cruise when I was 10 and I had NFI what Wormald did when I was 5.

I drank Pepsi because they sponsored the Sharks (and it was the only thing available at the ground!) I now quite like it. Never bought Hisense or LG stuff, or Reebok shoes, or any other previous Sharks sponsor that I can remember.

Aside from the Pepsi thing, nope, sponsorship doesn't make me buy a product.
It makes me aware of a particular brand (I mean, who had heard of Hisense before they sponsored the Sharks and the tennis court in Melbourne?)

Who would drink VB just because they sponsor the Kangaroos or Blues? Or XXXX because they are on the Qld jerseys?

I buy Steggles nuggets/frozen chicken products over Inghams now :lol:

Generally, if it's a choice between two similar products of similar price where I have no real preference either way, I'll go with a sponsors.

Example, if Samsung were still Roosters sponsors, I would buy a Samsung TV over a Sony.

However, if I were a Sharks fan... I wouldn't have bought an LG product, because imo Sony/Samsung/Panasonic are superior.

I buy Dairy Farmers milk because of the Cowboys. My car is a Toyota, although i cant say i bought it solely because of their association with the club, but it helped.

I can tell you that I definitely bought Power's Beer because of the Bronco's sponsorship.

I was young and impressionable 15/16 year old so that marketing appealed to me.

It must have worked for a lot of QLD also, because for a time there Power's was everywhere.

After they stopped sponsoring the Broncos it ended up in the cheap aisles.

The one legacy it left though was the "long necked" stubbie (an oxymoron?) every beer manufacturer copied that style after that (except VB) and still does.

I have never owned a Nike product and it is in part due to the fact they made all the Super League gear. I refused to buy any at the time and it has just stuck.

Dairy Farmers is a NQ (Malanda) company originally so all self respecting NQers should buy it regardless.

I would never buy a product just because that company sponsored my team.

I reckon most of us are mature enough to not get sucked in by it, but as a 14 to 16 year old I can tell you I thought this was somehow supporting my team!
