$BW may regret "handshake" agreement?

I wonder if the Roosters get rid of Smith, will that give SBW the excuse he needs to back out of the deal?

With the same service Aubusson and Guerra get he will be dominant in attack, in defence he will always be dominant.

. Great player no doubt. But dominant in defence. Not with new rule coming into play, shoulder charges to the head of an opponent will mean long stints on the sideline. He was hardly what I call a great tackler. Not a bad defender, just not great if we take his tackle of choice out of the equation.

And this is why you should have your posting rights rescinded. The first part is laughable - he was one of the best players in a side that won Super Rugby. Then he dominated the Wallabies and Ireland.

So what ? Union in Australia is played by 5th rate sportsmen. It's our least popular football code. It kind of explains why a small country like NZ can be dominant for so long.

Like we didn't hate the Rorters enough, now they're bring this shitstorm onto our game.

I hope it works out the way everybody deserves it to. Bunch of greedy wankers.

What?

Given Smith?s reputation among players one would think it would be a positive in SBW?s mind.
I'm not saying that because I think he wants to be coached by Smith. But because of how he said he regrets agreeing and if he knew his Rugby career would play out how it did he'd never have made the agreement, I'm wondering if something like a coaching change will give him grounds (in his head) to go back on his word.

He was and is a fantastic defender.

As had been pointed out ad infinitum, the shoulder charge is already banned in Union and he has survived. Therefore his transition back to RL is not dependant solely upon the ability to use the shoulder charge in defence. I'm sure he will relish the chance to reintroduce it into his game though.

Prior to his defection he was one of the best exponents of it, actually proficient enough to use it as a body check and not a head shot. Some others should take note of his technique if he manages to continue in the same vein.

Actually no.

Smith is close to mundine , mundine is close to SBW.

From what ive heard its one of the reasons he was going to the chooks.

So smith going could actually hurt the SBW deal.

You do understand he hasn't been able to shoulder charge in union?

Well this alleged ?handshake? agreement was in 2008 when Freddy was coaching so I can only assume Smith being there or not is irrelevant.

People completely missing the point. Nobody has a gun to SBW's head. The "handshake agreement" is just an excuse to appease the Union fans.

Also, he is definitely at the roosters next year. The only reason he hasn't signed is because the NRL will attempt to include the money he is earning elsewhere as part of the Roosters salary cap. Expect SBW to sign last minute, and expect him to repeat this process of a last minute single season contract for 2-3 seasons.

He'll be f**ked without a proper preseason. He'll be travelling around Japan playing hit and giggle while everyone else is busting their gut. The game has moved a long way in 5 years.

I'm starting to think he's going to do a runner on the Roosters but I actually hope he doesn't because I think he'll be bad for them and they won't make the 8.

All the commentators were bigging $BW up on the NRL show last week > great for the game etc > someone asked Cam Smith would he have him at the Storm > the answer was NO.

Dude you got a bit confused.. Unless these were two different questions. But the question was along the lines of "if SBW was joining the team in February etc after everyone else has had a pre-season would that put you off as a teammate?" and the answer was no, i.e. he would be fine with it if it meant he would be playing in his team.
