Hodges was a very good player for us in a premiership winning year you blubbering window washer.

Amos Roberts was very good, and Anasta has also been good.

Mason was ok in 2008 and never really recovered from injury after that. O’Meley was ok as well and part of a top 4 side.

What's so funny about re-signing Pearce and SKD?

Both been at the club since they were youngsters and love the club, losing them would've been a travesty. Pearce is always the last to leave, hangs round the club and up for a chat anytime. Skidsy is the same, both live and hang out around the area.

Clubmen like these are what you build your culture around, both are 22 and 23 respectively. Paying overs for youngsters that you can build a squad around is part and parcel of the game especially ones that were in such high demand... it's the risk you take to reap the rewards in the future.

Throw in Kennedy, Tasi, Moga, Friend, Masoe, JWH, Cordner, Leilua, Symonds and Cherrington as others we're paying overs for... and proud of it.

For someone who is so against clubs who 'poach' you're either really ignorant to believe that youngsters aren't going to receive overs in the early parts of their career or you're just a hypocrite who's incapable of following through on his beliefs. I'm tipping the latter.

The most interesting thing is that Shaun knocked back the Bulldogs bigger offer this year to stay at the Roosters... ;-) (Chris Lawrence too)

Wonder why we have had to buy so much lately? Its due to the fact we were continually raided. just as we start getting our own lot through again in barba, lafai, idris, taupau, kasiano etc another one is poached.

Yet this year we will see jackson, finucane etc come through and slowly build back the juniours we were poached. No club can continually lose talent like sbw, mason, thurston, price, mataiu etc and just produce a team to win the title year in year out with out adding quality.

SKD wasn't wanted by the dogs it was a media beatup he is overrated and overpaid at 350k at the roosters. Lawrence is quality and would of loved the dogs to pick him up. Juniour or not.

The last player we signed from the Dogs was Koupartisas and only cause he wasn't getting a run there and we were short on players. If you can claim we "bought" Tasi well he was as bought as any of your players. None of those are from the CB area and you know it.

Expecting clubs to be made up of 75% local jnrs is unrealistic in the modern game with a salary cap. The whole countries workforce is more transient and even more so with generation i, why would we expect RL to be any diffferent?

All the more reason for the NRL to be centrally funding jnr development imo.

Imo the salary cap is responsible for all the poaching of players. Leaves us in a very healthy situation where practically any team could challenge for the comp next year given a good run of luck and lack of serious injuries. Even the bookies dont have a clue with odds of about 8 to 1 the field (very open). Good luck to the Roosters with $BW. If the forum is anything to go by then that sort of money will be justified just through all the extra publicity and bums on seats he will generate.
