While Cabra have managed to sign a couple of "marquee players" they haven't been able to sign all of them because of the significantly better offers some players have received from rival teams, also another carot , say for a player like aiga, is the chance to play state league.
With cabra doing so well in 2009, it has also boosted the bargaining tool of previously unknown players. Unfortuately the mucking around with sharks-state league merger has hurt cabra. Players can not be blamed for trying to do the best for themselves as the time line is relatively short.
In the end loyalty is the not the determing factor, the $$$ are, that's a fact of life, doesnt always turn out to be the best decision, but $$$$ have a lot of pull.
In the big scheme of things Cabra aren't spending as much as other clubs are, which in turn has resulted in players leaving, it's not about players leaving because they have been poorly treated or who is coaching the side, it comes down to dollars and cents.

I Think 100years RL...Is Bang on The Money There..

sorry to bump up the subject again but there was an interesting article in the Parramatta sun regarding Parramatta's decision to not allow Cronulla to join forces with Cabra..

my question to Cabra fans and those in the know would be, why the hell wouldn't anyone from Cabra turn up to argue their case??? it doesn't make sense!
Think you will find Cabra people had a meeting with the messiah Osbourne and a following up meeting with director Geoff Gerrard, and they were then not invited to the board meeting.

so are you saying that John McDonald got it wrong.
Don't know if he got it wrong or he was given the wrong info but the details are wrong. I'm sure after travelling to and from Cronulla on numerous occassions to set up the partnership the Cabra people would not have dismissed a meeting to put their case to the board at parramatta

so are you saying that John McDonald got it wrong.

He got the Mounties part of it wrong so no reason why he shouldn't have screwed up the entire article.

There is no way Parra can stop Mounties from going to Harbord Diggers, after all, Mounties owns it and they have a direct affiliation with Manly.

MORE SIGNINGS ANNOUNCED

Cabramatta have retained the services of up and coming superstars Francis Vaiotu, Louis Vaiotu and Josh McIllvenney, together with stalwart Keith Heckenberg for the 2010 season. The Club also welcomes back local Junior Don Thompson who has played with the Newtown Jets and Chester Hill for the past two seasons, together with his brother Jason Thompson. More big name signings are expected in the next fortnight."

Apparently Chris Yates has been appointed Bundy Red assistant coach for Cabramatta. Coach Ruttle was the one who appointed him. If its confirmed then its great new for Yates after a disappointing 2009.
Also yet to be confirmed the Cabra other senior coaches are A-Grade (Brett Burns), A Reserve (Mark Debago) and C-Grade (Glenn Hamilton).
