Can Toulouse survive?

Wakefield has just lost, 13 - 12, against Saints.

Definitely feeling a bit nervous for Toulouse... they really need some points from their Hull FC, KR and Warrington matches.

Damn cas let the side down there, with most of toulouses games on the road for rest of season can’t see them staying up, best hope was Wakey crumbling but hasn’t happened.

Terrible results overnight for French RL … insane that both Toulouse and Catalans are not permanently exempt from relegation

Outdated system that doesn’t suit smaller professional sports, at least not ones like RL in England with only a handful of big clubs. “Earning it on the field” is a big thing English fans pull out in defence of P&R, saying it with a straight face like any promoted team won’t go in to the next season with an entirely different squad to try and stay up. No incentive to bring through juniors, clubs can’t afford a rebuilding phase.

Tbf without the p&r system Toulouse wouldn’t be in SL now. I mean look at the license system in nrl, it’s hardly led to exciting new market growth has it?

im no fan of p&r having seen my club suffer the Indignity Of it numerous times, but the nrl system is no better and you have places like perth who cant get in nrl as there is no system to do so.

I support promotion and relegation ! It’s just the two French teams need to be permanently exempt from it IMHO
why? imagine finishing 3rd from bottom 10 points clear and then getting relegated whilst a basket case French club stayed up! I want both clubs in and doing well, along with a welsh club, but you cant destroy the integrity of a comp for it. Toulouse had the opportunity to build a team in championship and then add to it when promoted and tbh they didnt, that’s on them as frustrating as it is. My clubs been relegated and come back up three times over the years, hopefully their foundations are strong enough to do the same.

Another close loss for Toulouse, led for a lot of the game but Robins came back at the end to take the win. No way back for them now sadly.

That’s the final nail in the coffin after blowing a HT lead against Warrington through indiscipline. No way back now, hopefully they can stay strong and bounce back up.

They’ve probably blown it not snagging a win these last few weeks in tight games. There is still 4 rounds left after this but they have to snag at least 2 wins I’d say and hope Wakey don’t get any more or 1 more and cop a few floggings. F&A is slightly again Toulouse at this point.

Toulouse - Wigan (A), Catalans (H), Hull FC (A), Saints (A).

Wakefield - Wigan (H), Hull FC (A), Hull KR (H), St Helens (A), Giants (A).

That last game will be interesting to see if Saints rest many players. They might need to get on the phone to Catalans about finding some niggling injuries and fatigued players for their game…

Looking at their fixtures I can see both wakey and Toulouse not winning another game.

Wakefield played a blinder against Wigan today, that could well seal Toulouse's fate.

When it comes to avoiding relegation it’s one of their strengths

tragic outcome for rugby league but that’s the system

The highs and lows of sport. Hopefully they can bounce back, though I'd rather see London come up next now they finally have a decent stadium they can call home for the future.

Officially gone after Wakey beat HKR and Toulouse lost the french derby. Hopefully they'll be back. Whats clear is the French development system needs improving.

The only benefit to this week's results is that Warrington are now 11th and that's just funny.

You’ve got to be fed up that TO got relegated. RL misses a trick - surprise, surprise. The lack of foresight isn’t stunning anymore, it’s just depressing. The World Cup heading to France, what an opportunity to build interest ahead of that to maximise exposure and build the international game. I realise it’s tough if you are a victim of a bigger picture approach, but in all honesty, the poor performance of some clubs should not deprive the entire sport of moving forward, surviving even. As a Bradford lad, I’m not taking any crap from any other clubs supporters about that. Bradford is where it is because of poor decision-making, end of - so are other clubs who feel they have a Devine right to be in super league. TO should have been given a relegation exemption for one year and been allowed to have a fighting chance.
