1. The package was addressed to 'Jason Bro' or 'James Brow' c/o Canberra Raiders. Ok, who is Jason Bro/Brow ? Officials are quick to link this to Bulgarelli, why ? Why could he not be for Jason Croker ? Oh that's right, after better investigation, 'Bro' and Bulgarelli start with the letter 'B'.
according to one of the articles, a female official at the Raiders claimed that Jason Bulgarelli asked for the package:
At that time, the club received a parcel addressed to a person unknown to it, James Brow, an allegedly fictitious name. The parcel obviously contained small items that rattled.

As part of the club's safety procedures, the police were called and they took the parcel away. They opened it and had the contents analysed.

In the meantime, shortly after handing over the package, a female club official claimed Bulgarelli approached Raiders staff seeking a parcel, quoting the name that had been on the parcel and saying he wanted to pick it up.

But Bulgarelli is understood to dispute the woman's version of events. He claims that he approached the woman seeking a jersey that had been sent to him that he was required to autograph
article written by Jacquelin Magnay, i don't know what source - greeneyed? so get YOUR facts first, Broncodroid. normally i have a lot of time for you, but this time you were too quick to go on the offensive.

as far as the Raiders being in the sh*ts legally, i don't think it'll happen. all they'd have to do is claim that they acted on the evidence they had at the time of the sacking.

I have ONLY seen it reported that the package was addressed to "James Brow". "Jason Bro" seems to be the figment of the imagination of a poster on this thread.

Excuse me moron, pg 118 of the Daily Telegraph reported by James Hooper reports the package as JASON BRO.

We will leave it at that. Now, I posted the following; tell me what I have made up or contradicted ?

Well James Hooper reports James Bro, other report James Brow.

2. Canberra officials intercepted the parcel and opened it. As Kaz said, I was under the impression this was illegal. Maybe a studying lawyer would be able to clarify for us.

Did Canberra officials not intercept the parcel and open it ?

3. Jason Bulgarelli was sacked. Unfair dismissal is ringing loud from where I stand! This will get ugly.

Did he not get sacked ?

4. Canberra players were informed via text message.

Were they not informed by test message ?

Move on...The Raiders are going backwards in all facets of their club in terms of on and off the field...I understand the supporters sticking up for their club, but do not chastise me for giving an opinion on WHAT I HAVE HEARD reported this morning.

Bulgarelli sacking 'could end in court'
12:29 AEDT Sat Nov 13 2004

The sacking of Canberra centre Jason Bulgarelli could end up in the courts, his manager says.

Bulgarelli had his contract terminated by the NRL club with a year left to run, while the Australian Federal Police confirmed it was investigating a matter referred to it by the Raiders.

It is understood the 28-year-old Bulgarelli was cut by Canberra after he was linked to a package containing ecstasy that was sent to the club.

His manager David Riolo said Bulgarelli maintained his innocence.

"He's adamant he hasn't breached the club's code of conduct," Riolo told ABC radio.

"I'll be writing to the NRL and the club on Monday and meeting with the Rugby League Players Association and Jason's legal representatives, and then we'll take it from there.

"I spoke to him this morning and a couple of times yesterday and he's very concerned - he's got two young boys, one of them at school, and a wife to support.

"And when he's received a letter saying `you're terminated, effective immediately' that means that the wages stop, which is very difficult for a man in his mid to late 20s trying to support his family."

He said if Bulgarelli's contract was reinstated, there wouldn't be a legal issue, although if his character had been defamed along the way it would be a separate matter.

Raiders chief executive Simon Hawkins said he was disappointed by what had occurred.

Bulgarelli, a former Illawarra junior representative, came to the Raiders in 2003 from Easts Tigers in Queensland Cup competition.

He was a surprise packet of the 2003 premiership and was named the Raiders' rookie of the year at age 27.

He notched up 17 games for the Raiders this season.

It's not the first time the Raiders club has been linked to a player drug scandal.

In 1999, Raiders centre Brandon Pearson admitted to taking ecstasy during a 12-hour drinking binge with teammate Ben Kennedy.

Pearson admitted taking the designer drug ecstasy on the night in question, while Kennedy said someone pushed a tablet into his mouth but he spat it out.

Both players were fined $10,000.

Raiders teammate Mark McLinden, who this week announced he had quit the raiders to join England club London Broncos, said the Canberra players were surprised by the sacking.

"The reason why I'm surprised is I because know Jason pretty well," McLinden told ABC radio.

"He's a family man and he loves his footy - he's a strong character and he's a good guy."

I think I wait for some concrete facts, rather than believing newspapers, who see sensationalising this as a way of boosting circulation.

Yes but reports are that Jason BULGARELLI and not Jason CROKER asked for the package.

Exactlly. Like greeneyed said: Broncodroid, get your facts straight. No one is stupid enough to just sack somebody without even seeking legal advice or thinking long and hard about it.

You would think so Raider Azz, but then you would also think noone would be stupid enough to have drugs sent to their place of employment. So someone has been a total dunderhead.
