The Flexi Cap seems to be at work again in the Belmore area. This year they look like losing Hannant and in exchange they will pick up Tolman, Eastwood (who is supposedly coming back) Beau Henry and now they are chasing Hodkinson as well. How much was Hannant on?

So is Burgess' Pott Point Palace all kosher and under the cap? I wouldn't be too smug with Rusty there signing up anyone and everyone.

Dogs also shed Lee Te Maari this year (mid season/sacked) who won lotto with his last deal which was around the 250k mark. We have a few ageing players and some dead wood to go from our roster also.

Because Hagan is a f**king genius. Good for us though, especially since Dogs took Groom. Who people seemed to over rate for some reason. He was sh*t.

Good for you.

Everyone rated him back before the Dogs signed him. Everyone was raving about him due to a youtube video he had made.

My post was simply answering why people over rated him

THE Sea Eagles are ready to beat off all challenges and secure in-demand rising young half Trent Hodkinson.
The off-contract City Origin half has been linked to the Bulldogs who are yet to re-sign veteran Country opposite Brett Kimmorley.
A player of Hodkinson’s experience and potential could possibly cost the Sea Eagles upwards of $150,000 per season.
With Josh Perry and Steve Matai yet to re-sign with Manly, it appears the club has a little space within the salary cap, even taking into account the recent contract extensions of Anthony Watmough, Glenn Stewart, Kieran Foran and Jamie Lyon.
Bulldogs recruitment manager Peter Mulholland yesterday dismissed speculation his club is in discussions with Hodkinson, but did admit Kimmorley’s future will impact on their options.
“There’s interest in all top halfbacks, but at this stage, not,” Mulholland said of Hodkinson.
“There’s plenty of rumours out there, but no. I wouldn’t imagine Manly would let him go in any case.”
Sea Eagles management has entirely no interest in watching the 21-year-old walk out the door with the club deep in discussions with the Parramatta junior.
Club chairman Scott Penn said the gritty Junior Kangaroo is an “integral” part of Manly’s future with his long-term signature paramount.
“He’s certainly a part of our future plans,” Penn said.
One club wishing Hodkinson was still on their books is Parramatta.
Veteran Eels junior mentor Matt Cameron, said the day his former pupil left the club was not a highlight.
“We were very, very sad to see him leave the district,” Cameron said. “But, on a personal point of view, I’m excited that he’s playing first grade.
“I would love to see him back playing in Parramatta colours, from a personal point of view, but as long as he’s playing good footy and is enjoying himself, then that’s OK.”

If Manly want to keep him he will be at Manly, simple as that, Manly really does not have to out on the player market for 2011 from my point of view

Been informed that Beau Henry from Saints is the main man the Dogs are aiming for. Hodkinson is probably a harder chase for the Dogs, I can't see it being successful with Noddy extending for another year. Hodko is not a NSW Cup player anymore.

Thats been known for a while. Perry isnt really needed for 2011 and onwards.

Can't see why he isnt needed, cap pressure forcing him out to re-sign and sign new player like hodkison and Foran..

Would be a shame to see Perry go, he is hitting his straps

Perry hits his straps coming up to contract negotiation times ad then falls off after. Newcastle saw that happen & to some extent we have also. I wouldnt let Perrys contract get in the way of securing a promising half.

Obviously, there are those that think Hodko should head back to familiar territory, but unfortunately that isn't likely to happen. Hodkinson and Keating have always worked well in tandem.

Henry has been signed as the back up half back, probably for about $60- $80k. They are still after an NRL half and Hodkinson's offer would be more than double that and after the weekend maybe increased further.

Hodkinson would be stupid to leave and could only possibly do it for $$$$. He has everything a young half could ask for at Manly... guaranteed position... great up and coming 5/8 to work with... quality coaching staff... dominant forward pack etc.

Manly should rap him up asap and need to keep perry also. Its time for manly to ditch brett stewert he costs us a fortune always injured for the season and waiting trial. Farrar is doing a great job and with stewerts money we can keep the whole team together.

Hodko > Perry.

Matt Cross > Perry.

George Rose > Matt Cross.

Perry ---> Bye.

Can't argue that and some good under 20 prospects coming through...

I would keep all of the above, just a shame the salary cap will (maybe) force him out..

That's going to be a massive decision by management, that's a "head vrs heart" decision. Will Brett recover? will he gain his strength and speed? This has been his second major knee injury. What sort of money is his contract worth?

Snake at his best is one attacking superstar, defence and positional play is fantastic and Farrar has covered well, but not half the player Brett is (my opinion)

I have said a few times that I believe Hoppa is the next superstar FB at the Eagles.

But I can’t see Manly cutting snake and I also believe the club will stand by him until all this off field stuff has been resolved..

Snake is by far a better player than Farrar, and will be straight back in the team next year. Provided he is walking and not in jail that is.
