Gidley was good last night. His best match of the series but he hasn't got anything on Brett Stewart. He'll be on the bench as our utility.

Naming Gidley as captain was the worst decision IMO. He's a good player but by no means in indispensible. He was no guarantee in the team until Stewart was ruled out tbh and then we go out naming him captain even though he could easily not be in the team next year. He's a good fullback and that's his best position but there are plenty of those around (Hayne, Stewart, Mini, Patten) there are better five eighth and hooker options at his own club let alone the competition. Halfback is an option (knowing the NSW selectors) but Gidley is not a halfback and we have better options anyway in Kimmorley, Pearce, Hornby, Wallace even. He shouldn't even be on the bench, he has done nothing from the bench and Wing has been so effective for us...if it's not Wing we can still have Ennis/Farah there as well

Agreed. If Stewart is fit he should be there, or Hayne. Or Mini (if he can stay injury free). In the 80s NSW used to pick the team then appoint the captain ... they are going to have to do that next year. He's a bench player at best (fb,hooker, halves, lock) but wing is better (halves, hooker, lock, Centre - played tests there).

 Slater wasn't brilliant but in NO way did Gidley outplay him.
he sure did last night. slater must have dropped the ball 4 or 5 times. he had an absolute howler of a night.

i'd prefer stewart to get picked though. i don't think NSW need the game that gidley provides.

If Brett Stewart is fit and not in prison, then he should be the NSW full back. He's by far the best full back we have. His reading of the game and his support play is second to none.

I would even have Gidley in my team. I'm sorry, but as much as I like him, I cant find a spot for him, unless Wing is injured and he's coming off the bench as a utility.

lol the guy must work for the media. OMMMGMFMGM BILLY SLATER drops the ball whilst 'grounding' the ball for a try! ./fapfestcirclejerk funnily enough forgetting all the other sh*t he brought to the table. Ever since WC final he has looked out of sorts imo.

Acutally Watmough got one good offload near the end of the game and it was Gidley who picked it up.

Yeah but if you watch the amount of breaks Watmough makes but had to take the tackle, that's what I'm talking about, in those situations you will always see Stewart on the inside for the pass.

Stewart if available will come back in. Kurt did what was asked of him, he wasnt brilliant, he tried hard and did his best.

The funniest thing for all you Gidley haters will be if they decide they want him to captain the team at fullback again next year and Stewart misses out completely

It's not a question of hating Gidley, far from it i admire the guy as a footballer ,he's just not as good a full back as Brett Stewart. It's not a dig of Gidley, more a dig at the selectors for making him captain and creating a rod for their own backs.

It would not surprise me. The selectors are clueless.

Gidley tries his arse off and is a great club player but he is does not beat Stewart in any department as far as fullback play goes.

For all teh yardage Gildey makes perhaps a Knights fan can come on and remind us how many tries he's scored this season.

A quick bit of research and i've finished my count.

One Try.
One solitary try all season for the NSW number one full back.
Sorry but i don't care how many yards he makes, that's just not good enough.
