Captain Kurt v Snake Stewart

Gidley isnt a support play fullback like Stewart is, he is a ball player and sets more trys up than he scores for that reason. Is this what NSW need? Probably not. Will Stewart be there next year? Yes he should.

Interesting to note though that once NSW selected a hooker and a half that could do their jobs, Gids only had to worry about being a FB and played bloody well. Gids will be on the bench in '10 (and not captain), he has proven that he deserves an Origin jumper but really needs to be selected in a role with minimal responsibility as he tends to try too much himself.

The funniest thing for all you Gidley haters will be if they decide they want him to captain the team at fullback again next year and Stewart misses out completely

That would be great for both Gidley fanboys AND Queensland, here's hoping we both get our wish.

Stewart should be on the wing - he can do all that he does from the wing, same as Hayne does.

1. gids
2. stewart
3. jennings
4. morris
5. hayne

best possible back 5.

No.
He is so good because of how he reads plays, he pops up everywhere, his support play and try assist ability to centres and wingers is brilliant. No point having him in the team if you play him at wing.

Best possible back five is Stewart at 1.

i don't see why he can't do this from the wing... blacklock used to do it with absolute aplomb.

having said that i don't really care anymore. gidley wont let anyone down... but stewart is a classy support runner for sure.

Stewart is the best fullback in NSW. Not only is his support play or blistering speed an asset, his cover defense is great. I recall in at least two origin matches he kept QLD's score much more respectable than what it could have been.

The irony is that what Stewart does for Manly (ie backing up), he has never re-produced the same form when he has played in representative games.

At least with Gidley he produces the same form at club level as he does in representative football.

Considering he had rib cartiliage damage, Gidley played very well last Wednesday and clearly out- played Slater.

Stewart sets up as many tries as he scores, his absence is why we looked so disjointed in attack early on.

Stewart or Hayne has to be the fullback next year. So what if gidley was captain. 2010 is a new year, they can pick a team then select a new one. Id personally have hindmarsh in the team and give him the captaincy.
