It would be far more prudent to pick up a few good players at 200k/year instead of Folau at 600k, not that we would ever be in the game for Folau

If he leaves Melbourne it will only be for somewhere with a postcode starting with 4.

Folou will not go for 600K a year - no matter what his manager thinks.

Unfortunately a bunch of 200K players will get you nowhere. What's the point of having 3 guys on 200 when 2 of them will be playing in Queensland?

Monas and Graham are the backbone of our three quarters. Hopefully we have a couple of decent halves between Carney, Herbert and Campo (and maybe Dobbo). Zilly can slot in the halves or FB. Best is on his way out having reached 30 (but may have another decent season in him). Goodwin, Milne, Purtell and Kelly make up the numbers.

We are still 1 quality three-quarter short of a great backline and IMO we could release Goodwin/Purtell, Dobson, Milne and Kelly to get that player. Joel Thompson could also make a go of centre in his early days ala Wiki and Hoffman.

Folou is a pipe dream but if we lose TC then you'd be crazy not to have a crack - even if it's only to bump up his price to eat up the cap of some other sucker club (like those pricks at Penrith are doing to us).

Amen !! and have been since the days of Mal ... we need a player (can I use tha word "marquee") that can attract more than the usual defenders thereby making space for a lesser player of the like of Milne (on match payments).

Hence my equation of using 40-50% of your cap on approx six players in key positions.

Take Thurston and Bowen out of Townsville and you have .. well not much at all ... that club will throw the kitchen sink at those two to keep them up north ... if we are not willing to pay $350 - $500K for a Carney or Zillman who will we throw that sort of money to.
