There is some suggestion on rlfans that they registered a new company called the Welsh Crusaders on October 20th. This suggests to me that they were preempting this situation and that they have entered administration, in essence, so that they don't have to cover the debts of the old club. I also assume that we will see the Welsh Crusaders in the ESL next season.

On the other hand I may be totally wrong and completely unappreciative of the gravity of the situation.

lets see if the rfl stick to their own rules and not award them a license for the same reason they never awarded widnes one

Lets bring in Toulouse.

They will add something to the comp.

I think they would have been in if they were still playing in Elite, it seems Elite teams can spend more money than the CC salary cap allows Toulouse too, and the fact they wouldn't have to travel to England every second week in Elite.

What is to stop them awarding one to the Welsh Crusaders?

But, crucially, the club will still be allowed to apply for one of the next round of Super League licences that will be awarded from 2012.
That follows a recent meeting of Super League representatives who voted to change the rules that had previously disqualified any club entering administration from any subsequent application, a fate which befell Widnes in 2008.

@ Con,

Not in favour of a fairer distribution of wealth ?

And dib, with the current economic climate, it makes sense to remove that. Would you be in favour of not helping Ireland out ? Leave them go bust is it ? You probably voted Tory too.

The Tories are the ones bailing out the irish, and it would be nice to know where this money came from given the cuts in all public sectors.

But i digress...

I think DB is a bit miffed as one of the reasons Widnes were not allowed in is that they went into Administration i.e. not on secure financial footing. Now the Crusaders are in the same boat its not seen as important. If the RFL were at least honest about why they make decisions it may make it easier to stomach.

Personally it just makes it funnier that Widnes were dropped to help expansion into South Wales. Since then the club has moved to 30 miles away in the North, is completely skint and St Helens are using the Halton ground because theres isn't (and never was) good enough.

Its easy to see why the Vikings are feeling hard done by.
