The DT has trotted out what seems to be an annual article on the Bears taking over the Titans.

The NRL should stipulate that the 12 Gold Coast games are to be played solely at CBUS or a mutually acceptable SEQ location between NSB, NRL and Qld State Govt.

The article regarding the NSB take over of the Titans.
$7Million offer

Rebrand and re colour :bear:
It's hit a paywall but I read it on news.com.au where it's missed the paywall.

Typical no substance article with one un-named official with quotes

Probably has some substance but will the NRL be willing to accept a new identity (name change and colours) for $7m? Guess it comes down to how many consortiums are genuinely interested in buying the club.

If they get them you can guarantee every year there will be rumours of them moving back to Sydney, it will destroy local support and sponsorships

I think a sensible plan can be laid out with the NRL stipulating almost all of their games must be played in the GC. I have no issue with them playing a game or two max in Sydney every season as long as the rest are on the GC, no different to Souths playing in Cairns and Perth. Or all the places other sides do already.
Better brand than the Titans and it gets a club off the books from the NRL.
Perhaps if they can make a success of it they could show some Sydney clubs there's perks to moving out of the city going forward. Unlikely I admit.

I could never begrudge the Bears rightful place in the competition, at the expense of the plastic Titans logo/brand.

Wonder what actually happened to the Bears fans? Did they switch to Union/Swans supporters? would be interesting to see what sort of support they still have in NSW for away games.

It won't happen, the NRL are selling the Gold Coast Titans, not a new license. It's just a cheap story for the telegraph to write every few months.

It appears there are no other bidders at this moment according to some there has been but the Nrl have knocked them back.

So if NSB get rejected and there are no other Bids for the Titans does the Nrl then try and sell the License altogether?

As an aside, If the Bears come back, I hope it also means the Warriors move away from red white & black, and go for a blue white and green strip.

For example.. http://gazf.info/auckland-warriors-2010/

It's about time they went back to something closer to the original colours for the club. Having a red and black team enter the league is the perfect opportunity to re-establish the Warriors own identity.

I'd imagine so.

The NRL have to supply TV with 8 games every full round, and if they can't sell the Titans "as is, where is", then they HAVE to drop some (all?) of those pre-conditions.

If it gets to that scenario, obviously it'll become one huge bidding war - Perth, the Bears, and any number of Brisbane & possibly New Zealand organisations will be clamoring the license. Kinda like what happens with bidding to host the Olympics.

It's obscene that a huge strategic decision could come down to whoever has the biggest pockets.

Gold Coast Bears could come to Sydney 8 times a year and placate bears whilst still playing on, and representing GC 12 times a year.

Again, its just scheduling.
