Despite the fact they have an under sized stadium for an NRL club (20,000....give me a break!). the Central Coast has only ever sold out the stadium for one League match....the opening of the stadium.

Since then....nothing. They havent sold out rep games....they havent even come close!

Carrara didn't sell out for the trial games this year- I rocked up really early for the Storm-Broncos clash, only to realise much later that I could've got there just before kick-off and still made it in. Talkng crowds, for all their failure, the Northern Eagles still pulled higher crowds than any Gold Coast team did. People talk about the population boom on the Gold Coast, but how many of these are ex-pat Vics? Even if there was a Gold Coast League team, wouldn't they just go on following the AFL? I'm not meaning to rubbish the Gold Coast (why would I, I live here!), but trying to say that the Central Coast has no credibility over the Gold Coast bid is total rubbish!

The Gold Coast have MUCH more room the grow.

Look at the Central Coast, up North you have a Knights team thats struggling to survive.

Down South, you have a Sea Eagles side thats only alive because they have a private backer.

Now look at the second largest Rugby league state on this planet.

Up north you have a thriving club in the Cowboys.

Down South, you have a thriving club in the Broncos.

QLD needs another team. End of.

Rubbish. Again. As always.

Truth is - when the CC Bears plays at Gosford, there will be maximum crowds there. And it will stay that way because it will be a well-funded team over the long term - not a day-to-day proposition like Gold Coast, manly and many other clubs. in other words, good players will want to be part of it.

Secondly, the CC Bears will include the crowds, juniors and support from the north shore of Sydney as well as the Central Coast. Great for their away crowds.

As for the "NSW does not need anothe team" rubbish. Better to have an extra great club in NSW than b-Grade option in Qld because the Roosters want to weaken the Broncos.

Nick politis has been behind it from day 1. Roosters assistant coach Cartwright will be the new coach. John Brass (Ex-Easts and News limited) will be the CEO. Even Phil Gould is crwoing about the Gold Coast.

And the Bears merely survive as a reserve grade outfit on the charitable intentions of a 100% News Ltd owned football club, the Melbourne Storm.

Sorry but for a crowd that was boosted by ALOT of Souths and Knights fans....to not sell out that game was pathetic.

I didn't see very many spare seats at all.

Wait for the free to air money in 07/08 then top up the teams with cash and add to NRL with GC, CC, and Wellington. 18 teams, no byes is nice.

Kick Union off the Central Coast before it makes me sick  , and push AFL back in it's pidgeon hole

I'm actually only slightly leaning toward CC because I grew up there, but there's plenty of merit in all the new team bids. NRL would be foolish to not add these areas to the comp in the next 3-4 years IF, and only if, the money is available to support the clubs. Possibly through an Shared revenue model where the NRL divvy's up the big TV money to each club.

Adding more than one team at a time is a bad idea.

We need to keep the NRL competitive and give the new team every possible chance of success.

Teams should be entered into the NRL staggered over 3-5 year periods.

I'm fairly neutral in the whole thing, not having any particular reason to like either region.

That said, having a team play a handful of its games at the Central Coast Stadium and having no affiliation with the area isn't exactly 'having' a team. I wouldn't support the Bulldogs if they decided to play three games a year in Newcastle. I don't think you'll find many New Zealanders who now support Wests for playing a game in Christchurch.

I do believe that the Gold Coast deserves a team in the short term. If any new team is to be admitted, it should be them. Queensland has a vast junior base that is currently being drawn on by only three clubs (or do NZ have a QLD cup affiliate still?)- and there's a yawning gap in the market for a team aside from Brisbane. A lot of southern Queenslanders don't exactly love Brisbane, just like a lot of Newcastle residents don't like the Knights.

The Central Coast does warrant a team, and for those crying 'there are too many NSW teams', my argument would be: 'Yes, there are. Get rid of a Sydney club'. Not to pick on any specific Sydney clubs, but there are sides there who realistically could be sacrificed for the good of the game. I'd rather see a Sydney side fold or relocate than lose a region like the Central Coast, Gold Coast, or even Wellington to Union or AFL. We've already lost Perth, after getting there first.

Never sold out a 20,000 seat stadium for a League match.

That includes a couple of City vs Country rep games.....and MANY NRL games......

Oh, but the logo of a dead Premier League club will change all that.

Give me a break!

Oh, and th support from the North Shore. Well, you got support from Souths fans and Newcastle fans last weekend and STILL couldnt sell out a match!

As for you last point, it shows how ****ing ignorant you mob are.

The Central Coast doesnt deserve a team. It will never deserve a team. If it didnt have that stadium, it wouldnt even be on the map.

Mate, you are such a loudmouth but with nothing to back it up.

You're a joke. "If you didn't have stadium". And juniors, crowds, funding, connection to an establoishment club. CC Bears would bring North Shore back to ruby league. engage your brain for the first time, moron.

As for that stupid comment about melbourne. We get several melb players playing for us if available. Yet your spin is that they are propping us up. Fact is - the Bears have been fighting for survival since mid 90's and still are. Gold coast pop up with an ordinary bid, all promises - but they are backed by the Roosters and the media hacks who are unable to look beyond headlines.

WHY DON'T THEY PUT YOU ON THE NRL BOARD
your a fountain of knowledge

you continue to death rid another bid,
you say you want expansion, but only your expansion
feeling insecure that your gc bid mob have made more stupid decisions other than stealing someone's logo?

and now express advocate is too small!,
BUT ITS ALREADY IN PLACE, IT ACTUALLY EXISTS
YOUR CARRARA UPGRADE OR ROBINA STADIUM THAT WILL COST [DEPENDING ON WHICH PAPER AND PROPOSAL] 20 TO 50 MILLION
STILL HASN'T STARTED, FUNDING NOT EVEN APPROVED

and adding more than one team at a time is a bad idea,
WHY?
because diehard says so

again, nothing wrong with both getting in, but oh no
bag off the cc bears, make boring dead club jokes, the stadium is too small etc
YOUR EITHER IDIOTS, OR THE WORSE SORT OF MANLY FUNDA [CLIFFY GC ACTUALLY KNOWS WHAT HE IS ON ABOUT IN COMPARISON]
