Remember the good old days when the likes of Betham, Faumuina and co. (there were others but I can't think of them at the moment) would front the judiciary two-three times a year. I would like to see more of that too just not too lengthy suspensions.

And is it just me or does Matagi remind you of big Iafeta Paleaasina when he used to carry the ball at a million miles an hour, that is something we need more of, because our pack really hasn't shaped up the last couple of years bar the odd good games.
The best thing about how Matagi runs the ball is how it lifts the other players. I remember two instances while watching the games where Matagi ran the ball back furiously - TL and Rapira were getting fired up watching. It is a awesome sight

First time I saw Matagi playing, my first thought was Paleaaesina. Don't think he runs it with quite as much venom Iafeta did, but he's the closest thing the Warriors have had since.

It's pretty inspiring stuff when you have a player that runs the ball like that, what Juju has said about it lifting the other players is spot on, it's infectious. It lifts the team moral and it also lifts the crowd when they're at home.

Matagi has really been a great addition to the Warriors pack. For so long now the Warriors forwards have had a reputation that they really haven't lived up to, but Matagi added some brutality to the pack, it gave them a guy that opponents knew they were going to be sore the next day after playing him.

Year or so ago I was watching "classic matches" on Sky and they had a Warriors 2002 (GF year) team playing the Sharks in a semi.

What amazed me was how high the warriors tackled. Dead set ripped the heads off the sharks players. They would have been suspended out of the comp now.

Most of the stuff in this thread about mongeral and suspensions is complete nonsense.

I agree Feddie. If we start being mongrels now it will undo all the good things.

We got the players, we are sorting our mix out to find true balance

There is no need for being grubby in the game. We should win on our talent period

If we start being mongrels and key players are having lengthy suspensions because Ozbash loves a bit of testicle grabbing then we are not moving forward at all.

Play to the blueprint, rely on your talent and more importantly trust each other

So you think that's going to win a premiership do you? Hasn't really gone close so far. They are still light years away from it.

No one is talking about thuggery, we saw what happened with Betham and L Anderson. Cost more games than anything - hot heads need not apply. Just simply need HARD players with a huge will to win, players for which losing is not an option. The Warriors just don't have them - but they need them.

Disagree with this. We are closer than you give us credit for and I don't get excited that much about our prospects before Round 1. This time I am only because we have the cattle and experienced heads where it counts.

I agree with getting HARD players that give us their all. The cattle we got has that in them now and with Matagi and new signings like Bukuya, Townsend etc that will only encourage our current crop to lift their games. We saw this in the trial against the Broncos.

Light years away pfffft

I saw a picture of Chad Townsend and his partner in today's Herald (gossip pages). Her name was Marrisa Sorensen. I'm assuming daughter of Dane as both come from the Shire and not a common surname - true???? I know that Dane's son, Scott, plays for the Sharks.

Not a lot on Townsend in this thread.

Per all the NRL boards about the Warriors...discussion morphs to the same Prop /forward discussions.

Townsends a solid half, better than TL because of tactical kicking and more accurate passing.

Hopefully the club has the patience to give him the magical fifty NRL games needed by a spine player to make a proper assessment.

Exactly right, as long as Townsend is around TL should be nowhere near the 6 jersey

Is he off contract? He's playing really good footy.

Did anyone take note of his try celebration? Looked like he was making a "$$$" with the his fingers. Message to management to show him the money maybe??

Yeah he's off contract at the end of this year. He's a good player just needs to improve defensively.

I read somewhere that he's going back to the Sharks next year. Can't remember where I read it. Think it was on LU somewhere, but I wouldn't trust it.

I think that's his signature try celebration. We just don't see it very often because he doesn't score many
