no it should'nt...wembley is the national RL stadium and was outlined as such since the get go...if anything the SL grand final should move to wembley

in much the same way the MCG has "members seats" wembley has 18,000 'club wembley members'....so the RFL only has something like 72k tickets to sell...so 78k would represent a virtual sell out...even the FA cup final does'nt have 90k attendances and thats the biggest event at wembley

the old trafford grand final is restricted to 73-74k because the tv screen takes out a whole corner of the ground pretty much

since the challenge cup final went back to the new wembley in 2007 its achieved the highest RL attendance anywhere in the world something like 3 or 4 out of the 5 years....so what we whinging at???

are they any mitigating circumstances? probably...speaking for myself the cup final is only 1 day of a 3 day weekend i go to london for...the other 2 days i go for the notting hill carnival...and given the riots and stuff i felt it probably was'nt worth going down....plus i'm going to the 4nations double header so thats another 4day weekend in london a few months apart...not really financially viable

I agree with you but the CC has lost a hell alot of it's appeal since SL has grown.
I hate the new Wembley and just think CC is lost and should be played in it's heartlands.
Notting Hill where Andrew Johns was caught with some drugs lol, Good Carnival on all week end in the house been to about 6 and loved it, not to into the state of black music now.

You have said on other forums you are a tad disappointed with the crowd though spud! Given the fact that is the two most popular rugby clubs in England, and that wigan took 30k fans to the game, I think the crowd isn't that great!

it should have been the biggest wembley final yet don't get me wrong.......but like i said theres mitigating circumstances...

rumour has it the RFL only sold 67k tickets the rest, apart from club wembley, where given away..and leeds only sold 10-12k tickets..thats shocking

It's a fantastic crowd. Remember that England were playing Ireland in the union, and that there was a full program of soccer going down all the divisions all at the same time. All in all another great crowd for CC Final.

Recorded it on IQ, will watch it after MNF.

The Challenge Cup hasnt lost its appeal in OZ, but the coverage has dropped quite a bit since Ch 9, the scum of the earth, took over the rights

Honestly if you aint gonna show it live then whats the point of havin the rights. Bring it back on FOX.

I dont think Fox Sports showed any highlights cause Ch 9 probably wouldnt allow it, same with the Grand Final last year.

The last live one I saw was Warrington/Huddersfield, and I normally get excited watching it live. But its unfortunate really, you hear stories of when blokes used to watch the game live in the 80s and 90s.

for those that did'nt watch it....look out for joel tomkins try........

not as good as offiah's in 1994 but it's up there imo

and thats why i've been calling for him to be a england center...his size and mobility will cause anyone problems...a 95kg+ center will make defenders think and get sucked in....our usual 6ft 80kg won't

Can't really consider it much of a try with the piss-poor defending. George Rose would have gone 60 metres against that shoddy defence

It was a good movement but I thought BJB's, though not resulting in a try and perhaps he took the wrong option with the kick, was more worthy of praise.

Yes he pushed of a foot tall player, outran a 30 odd year old prop and stepped a guy two years past his best.

After that he struggled with Abblet (a second row) and generally made him self look like a d*ck at all opportunities. He should be nowhere near the England centre spot. Second row possibly (except there are better players) but not centre.

only 78k? last year got 85k i think

Proper team playing last year. Bigger crowd. Rugby does not need to move the final, it just needs less Wigan.

best final in years......but ruined by poor reffing imo

No class in that final. Leeds started rubbish, and when they came back, Wigan turned into wrestlers and it all got niggly. Everyone else can stuff leeds without sticking fingers up at fans on national tv and not end with a fight.

As for the reffing, suprised the ref didn't score for them. The R(Wigan)FL must of had a word. Its good for the game to have a strong Wigan obviously.

 Someone's a little sooky baby.

Someone hasn't got a counter argument, so throws insults like a baby... ;-)

You know its all true.

Wigan has always been bad for Rugby.
J Tomkins for England? No chance. Hence why Wigan are signing G Thomas to play in his position next season.

Thats the story doing the rounds.

I'm not sooky (what the hell does that even mean?). I'm not a great lover of anything Leeds or Wigan. Its the sport over here's biggest game and it was ruined by horrible reffing. Also it turned into a bitchy pushing fest at the end so neither team deserve any respect.

Throw in Sam Tomkins flicking the v's a fans, and Joel just being Joel (and NOT good enough for England), loads of empty seats (why not give them away to London school kids through the Quins, why leave them empty!!) and it wasn't a very enjoyable game.

Which was a shame.

What was the score at the HWJ? Didn't they score 5 before your blokes even realised there was a game on?

Dicky Lewis made a fair point that their research suggests people are doing it harder now than at the beginning of the financial f**k up and there just wasn't enough coin going around for the big numbers to come down. The people that were there had an excellent weekend from the look of it.

Just had a close look at the Tomkins try, kinda confirmed what I saw from up high. Sam appears, to me, to be drawing players in with each step. His pace was just too much. If the Leeds defenders didn't keep pushing in, he'd have walked through like he did Bradford the week before.

Webb should have shown Joel the sideline more effectively, especially after Peacock's effort, but that was a pretty bloody good run. There's certainly no doubt that he's the best right centre in England. After a few more years learning the trade, he's gunna be a bloody good player.

no no no...its all wrong we are'nt supposed to play like this.......

this is what annoys most england fans...we see our guys "doing it" week in week out..we all know they have it in them...somewhere.....but they get handicapped by steve McNamara

on other boards i've put it like this....our boys are like university maths students, each day they get taught mind expanding lessons by the likes of royce simmons, michael maguire & nathan brown...then our best students get the pleasure of getting selected for england training camps where McNamara sits them in a classroom for hours at a time (he actually does this) and goes through the basics like they are kids....1+1=2,2+2=4....

seriously thats how it is with McNamara...he fills their heads with that much sh!t its untrue...just let em' play!
