Confirmed now according to the Sun.

Rumour is that the RFL are paying his wages so he doesn't even count on the salary cap!

Good old RFL. Calling it straight down the middle as always.

Very much a life after football signing IMO, Wigan don't need him but having a Welsh legend working at the club could really help them snare a few young Welsh stars or even established WRU players after the RUWC.

he is,mediawise, the highest profile player in the country, not for what he's done in league,he's done c**k all, but for who he is....theres not a month goes by where he is'nt in a magazine, radio show, newspaper column,on a tv chatshow etc...plus with his movie coming out soon with Mickey Rourke he's gonna be in the press more than ever in the next year,18months.....so if he's introduced as "wigan warriors player gareth thomas" then it ain't going to do us any harm is it?......plus he could be a "face of the rlwc13"

and we often joke when we talk about the "mythical RFL media dept"......gareth thomas ISthe RFL media dept....lol...smart move by the RFL if you ask me...

Well hopefully after the Wire vs Wigan game we can end the J Tomkins as an international centre debate now. Stick him in the second row, he would be good there. Not good enough either going forward or in defence to play centre.

Sam was marshalled well by Warrington and showed how the Aussies and Kiwis would handle him. Kick into space and then chase as a group. Go up in a line and make Sam do something. Not enough teams in the league are capable of doing this so he gets a lot of broken play where he is an awesome player.

For example the J tomkins Wembley try. Leeds did a poor kick then all charged one after another and Sam just blew past them. Or even like Wire did in the cup. Maybe he needs to go to the NRL to really develop his game as he would go up against these defences every week so would have to learn something different.

I'd still play him at fullback, as he is the best we got there. I just feel he lacks something which hopefully he will develop in time. They he will be up there with the best in the game. He has the tools to do it and it would give England a huge backline boost.

Oh and good to see Wigan showing there class for the second week running. Hats of to Mr Hock. Last min eye gouging. Get that guy banned... Again.
