Out of that list, 5 are current Manly first graders.

regular first graders?

i don't think so

so there's only 3 or 4 regular first grade Manly juniors in the entire NRL lol

can you see how Manly contribute nothing to the comp now?

Quick question El D.

Catchment areas as far as junior rugby league goes.

Which is larger? Parramatta or Manly...

No, I'm just asking a simple question that might help a non-sydney folk like myself shed some light on the situation.

Why spend money on imports if your juniors are so good?

Your team buys players just like any other. If you want to keep all your juniors sign them up and let the imports go.

I'll tell you why:

because of the salary cap players are forced to leave the club (you can even find posts in this thread where Parra fans are blaming Brian Smith for letting certain players go, when the issue was and always will be balancing what a player is worth to what he wants or what other teams offer!!).

What Eels fans realise (except the f**king idiots who think we should keep everyone) is that we can't possibly keep all our juniors, we have to decide who to try and keep and who not to. And Parra actually has a pretty good record at keeping the players it wants to keep (which, incidentally, is the issue here - we know that we could probably keep Williams if we wanted to. We kept Mateo off your grubby little hands, didn't we?)

See, what happens is that when other teams take our juniors (or players that have been developed from a young age, for want of the argument) then the Parra team has holes in certain positions because we can't possibly be expected to cover for the all players that leave, or to always have players available in the spots needed, or to fill the team with a bunch of juniors at the expense of experience.

So Parra does what every other team does and finds players it can afford from other clubs to fill in the areas in which it is lacking. And you should have realised by now that Parra nearly always buys experienced players as opposed to juniors.

The real issue here isn't how many Eels juniors at Manly, or vice versa, it's how many Eels juniors/developed players are in the NRL/ESL, and how many juniors we poach from rival clubs.

In our team (of the 25 player who have played in 08); Finch, Lowrie, Gulavou, Wagon made their debu at other clubs. Of them Lowrie and Joe have played 10 games for parramatta (8 lowrie in 2 years and 2 Joe). Wagon has played 200 games for parramatta and came here as a winger, and was transformed into a backrower.

Finch is the only player who was a established first grader before coming to parramatta and has had consistent showing in the first grade team.

Of the otehr Burt is a knights jnr we pinched, and Moimoi a Rabbits reject.
We bring players here from Tonga and NZ just like any side, but we develop our players, some actually come over from NZ and live in Cabra and Blacktown, which jnr leagues are part of the parramatta district (in RL).

Someone like Inu was born in NZ but came here and grew up here, but parramatta didn't bring him to Australia, that was his parents who thought Australia had better oppertunity.

Western Sydney is a large area, and I know from playing Jnr footy around here the comps are very good, with some great talent.
The best talent in the NRL is in Western Sydney, and most of them Islanders (thats why AFL will fail here to). Guys like Mortimore (greystanes jnr), Keating bros (Cabrra) aswell are locals aswell.

Parramatta are not very active in the Market, and havn't signned a Maquary player since Tahu (who was injured and wanted to move rather than chassed hard)

We lost Tahu - replaced Inu
Marsh - replaced Keating
Smith - Replaced KK
Vella - replaced Cordoba
Morrison - Replaced Mateo
McKinnon - Replaced by Reddy

Let me tell you what I believe will happen. NRL will be dead in 10 years because the NRL supports NON-CONTRIBUTING CLUBS like yours.
Yes MANLY and ROOSTERS are prime examples.

They offer the NRL 0/zilch/nothing.
They develop no local juniors and complain their area isn't big enough.
Well your club should not be based at Brookvale or should be forced to merge. The game will die if clubs like Manly and Roosters are continually supported for contributing nothing to the game.

The NRL hierarchy should be more concerned about all clubs developing more juniors and winning the war against rival codes.

Flashing the chequbook around at juniors from other clubs actually makes League go backwards.

How long do you think Parra and Penrith will continue to spend money on juniors if they have no benefit?

IfIwas Fitzi I would hold the NRL to randsome. Pay us for developing the games juniors or we'll stop all together, love to see where you would get your players then Cliffy.

Well done Cliffy, you support a club thats offers 0, glad you're happy that.

The fact that you have more Parra juniors in your team than Manly juniors says alot

so whats with men around Manly? don't thay have any balls to be able to play League?

Daniel Wagon – Junior Club Springwood
Wow, to me that looks like 16 players from your top 24 listed on your website that aren’t Parramatta Juniors.......... Hypocrite?
If my maths is right then that leaves 8 local juniors. Now from Manly’s top 25 squad we have Menzies, King, Watmough, Cuthbertson, Meaney, Mauro. So I take it having 2 more local juniors in your top squad entitles you to have more of a right to be in the NRL then we do......
I’m sure had Parramatta signed a good junior from another club you guys wouldn’t think Parramatta had done anything wrong.

That's crap! Remember Dean Pay, Jason Smith and plenty more, hell you even tried to sign up Menzies on huge $$$$. I couldn't be bothered going through a list of players that your mob has brought from other clubs over the years.

The fact is every club does it and your management f...ked up.
