The problem is it has become nigh on impossible to judge our players.
they are so wrapped up in the Sheens system that we no longer know what the majority are capable of
this is spot on.
Sheens has a very definite style that worked nigh on a decade ago.
The game changed, he hasn't moved with the times or the changes and is being left behind and with every year he gets even further behind.
There are some positions where you need specialists, even today.
Fullback, Five-eighth, halfback and hooker. Sure the roles have changed over the years but they are still the 4 most vital roles that can't be filled adequately by anyone.
They are specialist roles.
This year we've had players filling in at 6 or 7 all year, with the majority of those fill-ins being out of position. Farah, Lawrence, Ayshford, Fulton have all been in the halves, while actual decent back up halves in Miller, Chisholm and Humble have barely seen first grade, if at all, while the player who spent all year training at halfback was stupidly shifted to Fullback.
Which brings me to fullback. Last year Ryan and Meaney both showed they were capable of being decent fill in fullbacks, and definitely better than Moltzen. But Sheens this year played Moltzen and Humble there before Meaney, a specialist fullback, got a chance, before being dropped, never to be seen again in NRL.
Tuqiri has been woeful since his first season with us. Last year and this year there have calls for Nofaluma (sp?) and Koroibete to get a crack in the top grade. Instead Reddy got first chance, pushing Ayshford into five-eighth in defence and Lawrence into the second row in attack. Mind numbing stupidity.
Fulton at hooker is another debacle. Sheens regards a second rower and a park footballer from Penrith as better hooker prospects than a talented youngster who is a specialist hooker.
Sheens is destroying players careers and abilities. He needs to go for the sake of the club, the players, the fans and himself.
