This guy, Christian Nicolussi, a newsfilth reporter actually picked a very good team in this article here. I can't say i disagree with a single selection apart from Moylan. I wouldnt have Moylan anywhere near the team.

Gal, Bird and Farah have to go or the NSW selectors and coach are just taking the piss, but I can't believe everyone is selecting Woods? He is a marshmallow and a plodder.

Tamou will fade away into obscurity now he signed a big contract in Sydney too

I still find it crazy that we have selectors....

They give the coach a bunch of players he doesnt want then its the coach who is fired when these players turn out to be shit. Foulton has been pulling this shit for years. I think it was Bellamy in 08 who came out in the media and said he didnt want half the team he was given.

If the coach is going to be the guy accountable for the losses, at least give him the chance to f*ck it up with the team he wants.

Needs another middle forward on the bench. You wasted two spots on the bench with edge forwards, when the players they'd replace should play 80' anyway.

Can amend your team by starting Graham for Frizell and using the latter in the middle rotation alongside Klemmer and James. Let him rip in for 20' each half and get him more ball and even more impact than he had last night.

Have you watched a game of footy this year?

Yep, and this year isn't his first year in the nrl. The guy will lose as many games through ill discipline and stupid play as he wins. Not doubting his ability but NSW already has plenty of bone heads. No thanks.

Many have to go....but none will. They will get the same old band back together for game 3. Daley has no balls to make tough decisions.

Frizells biggest strength is power running on the edges. He's competent in the middle but if you're after a massive impact (Taumololo style) you won't get that. He runs killer angles, hits gaps well and is very hard to stop 1 on 1. The only reason he's played in the middle is that the Dragons coaches would know an attacking play if it ran past him while he tackled the wrong guy!

It will be a tough call with Cordner and Jackson also being specialised on the edge - personally I think Friz is a level above Jackson but that could be Dragons bias. Hes shown he deserves a spot and he wont let anyone down but he's not the massive-impact middle player we'd hope for.

if that's your opinion, then all of Jackson, Frizell, Cartwright & Graham cannot fit in Tommy's team because they're still all mainly edge forwards. and as you say, there's also Cordner in the mix. at least two out of that 5 misses out. jackson did a short stint in the middle when JBird came on and prior to Reynolds going off injured, but similar to your description of Frizell, has no impact in the middle with the ball. his strength is his work rate in defence.

Seriously, I watch the QLD middle forwards and the speed and power they exhibit in comparison to the NSW middle is like night and day. they get to and hit the defensive line fast and hard and get a quick play the ball while the NSW middle forwards predominantly lumber up and get wrestled, allowing the QLD line to re-set. Parker is bit slower but he always makes another 5 metres after getting to the line and is a threat with the off-load too. apart from Fifita, the NSW middle are guaranteed to die with the ball.

For game 3:

Ferguson -> Tedesco
Jennings -> Jack Bird
Reynolds (injured) -> Moylan
Moylan -> Coote
Walker -> Dugan
Greg Bird -> Cordner (if fit)
Gallen -> Graham
Jack Bird -> Cartwright
Farah -> Peats

The team in full:

1. Coote
2. Tedesco
3. Bird
4. Dugan
5. Mansour
6. Moylan
7. Maloney
8. Woods
9. Peats
10. Tamou
11. Jackson
12. Cordner
13. Graham

14. Cartwright
15. Frizell
16. Klemmer
17. Fifita

I'm not really a fan of Jackson, but he played well enough to keep his spot, same as Cordner in game 1. If the latter is unfit, I guess go for someone like Ryan James, Jake Trbojevic, or Paul Vaughan (on the bench with Friz to start).

Peats isn't the best hooker, but the other options are keep Farah, give Ennis another dead rubber, Rein (lol), or a kid like McInnes or Lichaa. At this point in time Peats is about the best we've got.

As for the 4 fullbacks in the team, it's a dead rubber. Take advantage of the injury to Reynolds to give Moylan a go in the halves. Get both Coote and Tedesco in there so they aren't thrown to the wolves as debutants if selected next year. Tedesco has the speed, so he gets the wing spot, with a roving commission in attack. Whatever you may think of Dugan, he's better than Walker and Jennings. The other options are retain Walker (who is at least passable at centre) or give an out of form James Roberts a go.

Selection for game 3 will show the indication blues take into the future.
Do we go for tokenism, and doing the right thing by the old mates and pick them for a dead rubber in Sydney? Or do we start to look forward, and start distancing ourselves from the losing dynasty.

I named a team about a week ago that i think NSW should have taken in to game 3. Im going to stick largely to that:

1. Tedesco
2. Mansour
3. Bird
4. Leilua
5. T.Trbojevic
6. Maloney
7. A. Reynolds
8. Tamou
9. Peats
10. Woods
11. Frizzel
12. Cordner
13. J.Trbojevic

14. Utility which is cant quite find yet. Maybe it's Dugan at centre for game 3 and blood Jack Bird off the bench. Ideally if Blake Austin was in good form it'd be him
15. Klemmer
16. Vaughan
17. Cartwright

Not wild about the halves and could easily be convinced to go another direction if someone has a good idea. But none of the options are particularly enticing
I have always been and continue to be stunned that ANYONE thinks Josh Jackson is an Origin footballer. It's quite incredible.

Changes i'd make.

Tedesco for Moylan.

I'm a massive Moylan fan but I will put my hand up and say I was wrong. Moylan is in the same class as Pearce at the moment. Great at Club level but not up to the Origin class. Tedesco is Bigger, Stronger and faster. He needs to be there

Dugan for Ferguson

Mansour keeps his spot but Fergo goes. Bringing Dugan in gives us Two hard running metre eater at the back who can get our sets off to a good start. Mansour's defensive positioning was piss but with a much better defensive centre next to him he'll come good

J Moz and J Bird for Jennings and Walker

Jennings showed he's not up to it anymore. Walker the less said the better. With J Moz will make our left side D much better. He's shown he can do the job on GI and will help Sauce out too. J Bird terrorised Thurston and O'Neill in the breif period he was there. He's an Origin special

Townsend for Reynolds

Maloney keeps his spot. Reynold would too but he's injured. The Chad has been good for Cronulla and his combination with Maloney gets him the job

Farah, Gallen,Bird and woods gone. I know our Forward Stats were awful last night. But it's hard to make metres when you're giving away dumb penalties and Gallen and Bird are trying to play pivot and hogging the f**king ball. My pack would be

8. Klemmer
9. Peats
10. Tamou
11. Jackson
12. Frizzell
13. Graham

and Bench

14. Austin
15. Cartwright
16. James
17. Merrin

Picking either Morris would be a step back - we should be building for the future. Also I'd retain Woods.

I agree that JMoz shoukd never play Origin again but if BMoz is back to his usual self what harm will there be in picking him for a dead rubber? We can still pick pups in the other positions.
