Changes NSW must make.

I agree that JMoz shoukd never play Origin again but if BMoz is back to his usual self what harm will there be in picking him for a dead rubber? We can still pick pups in the other positions.

Well JMoz is probably still the best centre in NSW but the only reason I'd be leaving him out is cause of his age. I think Brett is a few seconds younger, maybe I should take that into calculations

Austin would be a good bench player. A backyard type footy player who would be pretty versatile. His running game could really test tired forwards in the middle at the backend of the game.

Agreed
He can play fullback, centre, halves, hooker and back row. So he gives you genuine versatility. But also he can just come on and be a running player around the ruck, sniffing for offloads, running at tired forwards, backing up on half breaks

But he's been hurt a lot this year and his form isn't great. So it's hard to justify selecting him right now unless he has a couple of bangers between now and game 3

Yep, and this year isn't his first year in the nrl. The guy will lose as many games through ill discipline and stupid play as he wins. Not doubting his ability but NSW already has plenty of bone heads. No thanks.

This argument got players selected ahead of him who then proceeded to do everything BJ was supposed to be a huge risk of doing.

if that's your opinion, then all of Jackson, Frizell, Cartwright & Graham cannot fit in Tommy's team because they're still all mainly edge forwards. and as you say, there's also Cordner in the mix. at least two out of that 5 misses out. jackson did a short stint in the middle when JBird came on and prior to Reynolds going off injured, but similar to your description of Frizell, has no impact in the middle with the ball. his strength is his work rate in defence.

Seriously, I watch the QLD middle forwards and the speed and power they exhibit in comparison to the NSW middle is like night and day. they get to and hit the defensive line fast and hard and get a quick play the ball while the NSW middle forwards predominantly lumber up and get wrestled, allowing the QLD line to re-set. Parker is bit slower but he always makes another 5 metres after getting to the line and is a threat with the off-load too. apart from Fifita, the NSW middle are guaranteed to die with the ball.

That's exactly the point I was making! Unfortunately, you pick the best ones and let them rip. I think Cartwright is best fit for the bench, at least he can float as a ball-playing lock. Then one of Friz, Jackson and Graham misses out.

The biggest change we need to make is getting a coach and/or selectors who will just pick a team for the future and wont play favourites, Frizzell nly getting selected this year after two injuries to the guys in front of him is an absolute travesty and shows how far off Daley and Co is. Frizzel should be the first backrower picked ffs. Get rid of Gallen, Farah, G. Bird, Jackson and bring in Tedesco, Cartwright, Junior Paulo, Peats, Peachey etc Of Reynolds os out take a risk and play Moylan in the halves the series is gone and it cant get any more embarrassing then game 3 last year.

As far as im concerned Gallen, Greg Bird etc should just be grateful for all the chances they got to play origin, they don't need to be retained for game 3, and id punt Daley now and give Fitler the team for game 3. Daley sees this transition as a 3 or 4 year thing when really is should of happened last year.

Tedesco is not a winger. He is wasted on the wing, and would probably get caught out defensively as well. He has to be fullback. We are not losing anything by naming Moylan on the bench. If anything it improves the team, and will add spark.

We actually have quite a lot of talent in the backs when everyone is fully fit and in form.
Tedesco, Moylan, Coote, Mansour, Ferguson, Tupou, Dugan, B Morris, J Morris, BJ Leilua, J Bird, Trbojevic, Walker.
All competing for 5 spots

NSW are only lacking in the key positions of 6, 7, 9. Which is why we keep losing.

Moylan shouldn't be anywhere near the NSW team. Gould has everyone fooled.

We have better fullback options, better 5/8th options and better utility options.

I agree with you he isn't ready for origin but he has been very good for us this year. He's still only 19 and has been one of our better players certainty in better form than Gagai.

Is there any promising hookers for NSW at all.

Smith has probably a couple of years left in him. He is in his early 30s but his game doesnt really depend on speed. So long as what speed he has doesnt completely drop off he will be able to keep playing.

Even still QLD have Granville and Friend in their mid to late 20s waiting in the wings.

ITs a real weakness for NSW and its probably the most important position on the field.

1. Tedesco
2. Mansour
3. Roberts
4. Walker
5. Trbojevic
6. Maloney
7. Reynolds
8. Woods
9. Peats
10. Tamou
11. Frizzell
12. Cartwright/Cordner
13. Trbojevic

Coach: Toovey (someone who is gonna fire up, guide and motivate the young group)

Might as well just move all the older dead wood on and give a young, exciting group of players a go and give them time to grow as a side like Queensland did. Better than trotting out has beens like Gallen, Jennings, Farah, Bird and watching another boring Origin series without seeing any potential for the future.

I think Jackson is a workhorse and should always be picked, Bit like QLS stick with Lillyman etc.

Yes. Could I order a double Trbojevic? Shaken. Not stirred.

Anyone suggesting Moylan on the bench is obviously blinded by the channel 9 influence on that media darling.

No impact, not a utility and he's too thin with no acceleration or aggression.

If the media want him to be carved into the next Darren Lockyer, then he is no where near ready for Origin and should carve his trade in the 6 jersey at club level.

Peats.

Remember in 2003 when Queensland had hooker problems. They had pj marsh earlier then i think he got injured, then they tried crocker and sattler. Then finally they gave a young guy a try. He was still young, finding his feet, he wasn't considered in the same class as nsw hookers like buderus, wing and priddis. But Queensland gave him a go anyway and apart from 1 game, he has played almost every minute of origin since then.

well im still seeing at least 4 of them in most teams posted. with some even having Frizell starting on an edge, and just 2 props/middle players on the bench.

second row is a NSW strength, but stacking the team with them does f**k all if the hooker and halves are predominantly bums as it has to be distributed out there by these guys. besides, starting edge forwards don't need to be interchanged until late in the game unlike the middle rotation which get gassed after 20-25 minutes.

QLD have gone into this series with just 2 decent second rowers - Gillett and Thaiday and the later is an old bastard. Guerra is horrendously out of form and is getting little minutes cos he plays exclusively on the edge anyway and you don't need to waste interchange on the starting edge forwards during the game. Papallii's role for QLD is in the middle rotation. Edge forwards aren't massively important in the overall scheme and any bums that halves can get running into holes will be enough. the issue is our halves can't consistently do it. what's more important for your edge forward is that they can defend cos they cop the brunt of halves and decoy players coming towards them.

cordner may be injured so 3 other guys at the most need to be selected to play on the edges, and that interchange edge forward needs to be a bit versatile to be worthwhile.

the real blooding needs to be done with the middle forwards to replace all of Gallen, GBird, Tamou, and possibly Woods too who lumbers along.

Can Frizell transfer his impact into the middle? That would be ideal as one replacement to the above cos then you can actually use all of Jackson, Graham and Cartwright.

The other 5 middle forwards? There's Klemmer and Fifita who should be selected again as they've shown the goods for NSW. That still leaves another 3 new middle forwards/props to be selected. They have to be found and they have to be good cos they've got to be the ones consistently getting QLD on the back foot set after set, and being able to defend competently around the ruck.

and of course, there needs to be a new hooker to bring it all together.

Ill never understand anyone who think Josh Jackson is a SOO level footballer. He's a honest toiler at club level ffs.
