Is it just me or is it obvious to everyone else that Priddis is twice the hooker that Young is?

Priddis is quicker, smarter and our attack goes up a notch when Priddis gets into dummy half.

Young is a champion, a bloody hard worker, committed and inspirational. Why is he in a role that requires speed and creativity when his strength is rolling up his sleeves and getting his hands dirty and inspiring the rest of his pack to do the same.

Players like Young are found right across the NRL almost in every team exclusively in the back row. eg. Hindmarsh, Tounge, Fitzgibbon, Ryan and Johnson

Let Young make 40 odd tackles a game and if he gets the chance run or play the ball a little.

Will Wayne at one point agree with me, a simple peasant and have Priddis as our 9?

IMO as we showed on Saturday our pack is incredible, has loads of stamina and can out do i would say nearly any pack in the NRL (With one less froward on the bench). So what i suppose is, if we only need to carry 2 or 3 forwards on our bench, why not give the 4th bench spot to a Fepuluai or a Henry to have that 15 or 20 if Priddis gets tired?

Hornbag and Young whilst incredible leaders and would take a bullet for this great club i just don't think have the speed and quickness around the ruck and at 1st receiver to take us all the way.

At full strength how does this side look?

1. Boyd
2. Nightingale
3. Scott
4. Cooper
5. Sailor
6. Soward
7. Hornby
8. Poore
9. Priddis
10. Weyman
11. Smith
12. Creagh
13. Young

14. Saffy/Hunt
15. Prior
16. Costigan
17. Henry/Fepuluai

To me that looks easily like one of the best packs in the comp.

It is a BIG team however if there was an injury in the Backs during the match there is still plenty of ways the team could be shuffled around.

Soward can play FB or wing and Hornbag could drop back or even play in the centers

With a big strong team like that based on defense i believe Priddis in the 9 and some speed and youth on the bench could only bring more points to our team

What u guys rekon?

Im liking that lineup. Defensively the strongest team in the comp id say. Ive said from the start that priddis should be starting as he provides more spark and direction than young does but we do need young in the backrow for his leadership and workrate. Scott in the centres is great aswell. Makes out outside defence alot better which was shown last game. At the moment i wouldnt have henry/fepuluai on the bench we can use the 4 fowards as young can fill into hooker when neccessary. Great side!

I quite like the idea of playing Fepuleai off the bench, tbh. Obviously it would allow Young to play lock where he is at his best, we don't lose anything when Priddis comes off, in fact he may even provide extra spark and a kicking game from dummy half. Our entire back row is capable of playing 80 minutes if needed to so we can afford to try it. If there's an injury to the backline we can always play Young and Soward in the halves, Hornby at the back and move Boyd wherever needed. If there's an injury to the halves Young can slot straight in.

Yeah i would say young at lock is a must...

I hope Benny see's it this way but whatever he does im sure it will be better than anything we can come up with

watatank... I haven't seen any of the Shellharbour matches. How has Fepuleai's form been? I'd like to know what you're basing that suggestion on. I've only seen him at the Dogs trial this year and, based on that, he wouldn't warrant selection. Plenty of scope for improvement though and perhaps he has...

Yeah, it's a pretty good lineup Pete.

I just want players to stop pooping their pants every time they get to the opposition 20. If that's the side to do it, it's the side we want on the paddock.

Just the line up iv been calling for Pete... especially with Fepeluai off the bench BUT definately start with Priddis in the 9.

Scott must stay in the centres if not just for the time being, but his impact in defence out there is what truely made us impregnable in defence!

and having Young in the 13 allows him to play as either a running or ball playing lock... Makes him dangerous...

the only change i would make and its one that could be a massive flop if trialed (i do admit that) is to switch Hornby and Soward...

Only really footage of the Shellharbour game against Newtown, they showed about 50/80 minutes of it. He played off the bench but looked the part when he was there, if you saw him play NYC last year it was like that. He looked very comfortable in NSW Cup and as a bench hooker I think he'd go very well in NRL. IMO his main concern is his fitness, I don't think he can play really long minutes but that wouldn't be a problem if he's playing off the bench.

Nothing wrong with Pete's lineup, but as food for thought...
I've got to have Prior in my 13 - he's Origin quality for sure.

1. Morris
2. Nightingale
3. Boyd
4. Cooper
5. Sailor
6. Hornby
7. Soward
8. Poore
9. Priddis
10. Weyman
11. Prior
12. Creagh
13. Smith

14. Saffy
15. Scott
16. Costigan
17. Young

Prior WILL be Origin quality... i would love to see him beef up a little... but for the time being he is great...

I like the halves switch though bud i can get behind that thinking aye

I don’t know that Priddis has proven his fitness yet and may well be better suited to coming on after 20 or so, I agree that he is definitely way better than Young in the role who in turn is better ball player than Smith who is a better hole runner and defender (and that’s saying something). I would be increasing Priddis game time and gradually work him to a starting role
No way would I put Morris in the 1 jersey even if we risk losing him. It appears that with Scott in the centre in defence that we may have sorted our RHS defence. Boyd is still feeling his way and is only a few matches from starring in the fullback role IMO.
I would also not bracket Saffy with Hunt who’s mistake rate has been high of late and is Saffy also has the edge in defence.
I think Hornby is a bigger worry at the moment. He deserves some time to make the 7 jersey his own and has been pretty good in cutting down opposition movements in defence but his passing has been really ordinary and dare I say, a little lazy.

Beau Henry still needs a bit of seasoning in lower grades, probably in Reserve Grade so he can play against fully grown men. Fepuluai needs to lay off the pies for a while, his fitness is a concern for 1st Grade.

Fep played well v newtown and 10 - 15mins each half wouldn't push him too much. I'm pretty sure he's looked at as our future no 9. So it's more a matter of when rather than if. Prior is a great benchie. All benchie players aren't meant to be impact. Others are meant to steady the ship. He suits that perfectly.

Beau played first grade down at warilla for 3 years, he can handle the full grown men. Fepuluai's size it what makes him a good footballer, he needs the extra weight behind him and wouldnt be the same player without it.

Just because he played first grade in Group 7 doesn't mean he is ready for NRL. Lots of good young players have played Illawarra/Group 7 first grade to a high level at the same age and got dropped by the Dragons long before NYC. He'd have to hold his own against a lot of players who are on the verge of the NRL and who probably train more than 2 hrs a week as well
