Channel 10 must be sucking up to the NRL - its TV rights negotiation season!

Ten still wages a war against league. All their comedy shows (Good News Week, 7PM Project, et cetera) all put rugby league down every opertunity they get, running the same old jokes about "boof heads" or "rapists". In their defence, the comedians are all Victorians (how you call Dave Hughes a comedian is beyond me though).

Just for those who are interested, AFL isn't from Sydney. The guy who wrote the original rules was born in Sydney, but grew up in Melbourne before going to the Rugby school in England, then came back to Melbourne and wrote something like 8 rules for AFL. No doubt Ch 10 will be having a circle jerk over it though.

So it just proves the prats that AFL comes from Rugby as does League.

You're right.... not funny at all although he's been used in a few Storm promos here and there.

Wow. Channel 10 was hyping up rugby league in there headline news tonight. They spent about 4 minutes on RL and tonights game at 5:08pm.

Ten in Brisbane always spends time talking about league on game nights (every other night also, but more so on game nights).

Their sports guy was at Suncorp tonight, I'm sure 7 and 9 will be also though. (edit, 9's weather guy was at Suncorp in Broncos gear.)

What id like to see happen, is for the TV rights deal to include replays of past games. Not neccessarily the current seasons matches, but if so, great!.

The idea being, the commission sells the rights to say 9 and 7 plus Fox. We could then sell the rights to replays from yester-year to One HD. Now just to keep 9 and 7 happy, we could tell One HD that they cannot broadcast the game during primetime or against NRL matches on 9,7 and Fox.

With the evolution of digital TV, it would be nice to have "choose-day" night football on One HD (or any channel willing to pay for them)

My ultimate goal is to have some sort of Rugby League on all 3 FTA channels while at the same time getting as much money from the deals as possible.

Nice. Would love to see more SL on FTA. Is QLD cup still on the HD ABC channels?
