There lays the problem , Mary does not change anything so as the year goes on teams dont have to adapt much to beat us .....Didn't see the game but sounds like Aitken, Lafai and nighty didn't have good games?
Thats not good. Geez I hope the coach makes some changes if these guys continue to make errors.
He won't though.
Dean Young has even less coaching ability than his dad and only got the gig because no-one at the club can stand up to Craig Young. The scary thing is that Deano wants to be our next coach.
You all blame Mary for everything but the Young family have been f**king us up for years and years and years and look set to continue.
Our best defensive effort in recent years was in Mary's first full year as coach 2015 ( 4th best ), after that Young steps in.
Love the enthusiasm, but what makes you think the Broncos could possibly score a 4 pointer against us on such a night?
Forget what you read in the papers, we won that game.
If you look at the stats we were coming first for a fair while.
The defensive3 misreads can somewhat be put down to losing the ruck. They had much faster play the balls, landing on their fronts and our markers not being able to get back in time. This led to a cascading effect leading to some of the defensive misreads. The general speed of our backs and attack, will improve with coordination and combinations.
Only a trial, so not to fussed about the result. Can't expect Bennet type prep, it's Mary.
Didn't see the game. Nighty, did he walk under a ladder? If not smacked in head no hand on side line and he was pulled back and was bees from scoring, so don't understand why no pen try.
Beautiful try from Dufty, the sky the limit. Lomaz with a Gasnier like step and will wait an see what is served up against the Broncs at home.
At least that is encouraging 1A , I suppose we will all know after round 1 . I am sure that Ben Hunt will also step up against his old club and our forward pack will begin to make better metres . As long as the Dragons play as a 1st grade side should and make the Broncos earn any points that come their way , then I will know that there is still hope for 2018 .
I am not sure, but it may have been a deliberate tactic to have the team pre-fatigued via training workload leading up, to get them ready for season proper. The interchange wasn't run like a normal season game and I think we took it as more of a trial. Let's not fall into the old Souffs trap and consider this our grand final.I'd say that generally our players were less energetic and less fit. All flows from this. Preparation was poor and is the coaches responsibility.
One poor flick pass where had his winger kept his width instead of going inside, he goes over unmarked. Admittedly, he may have ended up over the line. From memory he only made one during the night. IMO, this is not something he should be removing from his game, but nurturing, and training to use at appropriate times. I don't have the reference, but I read/seen somewhere that we averaged an extra 10ms a carry off each of his offloads which was second most in the comp from memory. He also had several try assists last year which is more than we have seen from one of our centres since the Cooper/Gasnier days.Lafai should just kiss the flick pass goodbye
Nightinhale was even slower than last year. Well said......I'd say that generally our players were less energetic and less fit. All flows from this. Preparation was poor and is the coaches responsibility. The failure to recognise Leilua was not fit, Aitken had not overcome his skill shortfalls, Nightingale was even slower than last year, Latimore is not the answer in our prop rotation and Lafai should just kiss the flick pass goodbye, is just another reason why Mary and his staff should be replace by a professional coaching staff.
And we will miss Dugan at the back as well....defensively we have a huge hole to fill in Thommo and Dugan imo.....it was bad enough last year cant for the life of me see any of the replacements filling that void....hope Im wrong fellasBen Hunt will be frothing Gareth67, hoping to see a "stick it up ya" MOM performance.
We missed Thommo last night though, poor Luc, it was SYD heads. There wasn't a stand out player in the trials.

I think Lesson was great in both games.... really a consistent player who know appears to have a left foot step!Ben Hunt will be frothing Gareth67, hoping to see a "stick it up ya" MOM performance.

Ridiculous that both those guys didn’t get a run.... I was particularly looking forward to seeing if Kerr could back up what I thought was a great performance against HullLooks like Mary hasn't learn about using the bench. Don't think Kerr and Robson got a run last night. It was a f***** trial.
Maybe he should relinquish the interchange movements and planning to someone else!

Maybe that’s half the problem.
With Mary, the players are probably too comfortable.
We needed a coach and players to have a ‘must win’ attitude.
For McGregor to say, ‘it’s only a trail’ is bullsh@t.
Mentally and attitude...... that’s what we need changing.
Melbourne would not be happy with the result, neither should we.
