Charity Shield 2025

Last year's Charity Shield was such a deflating event.. the team really struggled to put anything together and then capitulated. Thankfully they looked much much better the following week against the Tigers (in Mudgee). Fingers crossed our second trial is the better of the two again this season because the Bunnies have had a mortgage on the shield in recent times. I know we used to joke about this game being Souths grand final.. but... I kinda miss winning it. Would be nice.

I'm tipping the Left-wing position will become the most competitive and the the biggest talking point by our fans.

Mate I think Tuipolotu has the mortgage on the left wing, at least to begin with. Zac Lomax's vacated right wing is the contentious one. Matt Feagai apparently did well there yesterday

The smoky I reckon is Allan.
Saw on his interview he’s looking to get some NSW cup games into him first. Probably Lawson would be the same so counts them both out at the start of the season.

Start of the season would have to be between Tuipulotu, Ravalawa, Sloan, Feagai and Finau for the two spots.

My guess is Tui and either Sloan or Feagai, but we'll see how the boys go in the trials.

The Charity Shield always has a nice touch of nostalgia for me, and for perhaps the Gen X/Millennial generation. It once signalled the start of footy season... before the manufactured pre-season challenge, the Nines, even the Sevens etc. It was a biggish event. Let's win it again, shall we? Just like in the old days

Used to love it when the Rampling brothers, Mario Fenech, Les Davidson, Boyle, Graeme Wynn, Stoney, Jarvis, Young and Reddy all played in the CS. It was on for young and old and no place for the faint hearted. One year there was about 25k at the SFS. It’s still hyped up, but in reality it’s a bit lame now in comparison.
