Dragons didn’t have a pre season spot left for Ward so he went on trial and train at bunnies. Dunno if he is signed for this season?

Not sure if I miss read the squad on Tuesday but could have sworn liddle was named.
let’s hope he’s fit come round 1.
Would be good to see him in that 13 role.
Also let’s hope Sele plays this week. Would really like to know how he’s come back from his heart issue.

Don't you love the media.

Where was the incredulous headline from Paul Crawley - "DRAGONS DROP BALL ON ANOTHER TALENTED JUNIOR" when Ward wasn't able to secure his place in the Dragons?

He then has one good trial game with Souths

20-20 hindsight = reporting from his arse, not from any great knowledge.

DRAGONS DROP BALL ON ANOTHER TALENTED JUNIOR

Did the Dragons just drop the ball with another talented Gerringong junior with a skillset not unlike Tyran Wishart?

Former Rabbitohs Lachlan Ilias and Damien Cook won’t be the only players with a point to prove against their former club in this weekend’s Charity Shield in Mudgee.

The flipside of the Bunnies losing Ilias and Cook to the Dragons is talented young playmaker Ashton Ward who turned heads in the Rabbitohs’ trial loss to the Sea Eagles in Gosford.

Ward was the Dragons’ 2024 Jersey Flegg player of the year and is yet another Gerringong junior who looks a real talent, can handle five-eighth or halfback and kicks goals to boot.

Ward’s performance obviously caught the attention of Wayne Bennett in last week’s trial given he’s again got a spot on the bench for the clash against his former club.

Of course, Wishart was a Gerringong junior who had to move to Melbourne before his former club eventually showed some interest in trying to get him back after Wishart emerged as the NRL’s new super sub.

Ward has the potential to play a similar role at the Rabbitohs.

Yes but in our current cycle of recruitment, the Dragons need first-grade experienced halves in addition to their current juniors Reed and Glover. I suppose, 'you can't keep them all'.

I'm sure he will do fine being developed by Bennett.

With the lack of size and experience in our forward pack, we need De Belin at lock.

In that fox article merkin still throwing shade our way even after stealing 1m a year off us! Hopefully someone puts a hit on him. He doesn’t like being put under pressure as we all know.

Obviously our BOD rate Reed ahead of Ward, not sure I do as he knows how to take a game by the throat. Reason Rabbits are so cock a hoop they poached him. Wards only downside that I can see is his diminutive size and the chance of being bashed every time he gets hand on ball.

Reed is still very young and scrawny but I was very very impressed with that chase he put in for that try off the Lawson kick.
Loved the effort he put in to score that.
Great effort from Reed yes but how good was the smarts to step the opposition, see the space and put in a beautifully weighted grubber into the in goal in his first ever game from Lawson?
