Chasing Kingston and Halatau

Apparently Daryl Brohman reported we are chasing Kevin Kingston and Dene Halatau. I didnt hear it myself but this seems to be in line with Wests Tigers senior citizen recruitment policy. I cant wait for 2023 when we announce the prodigal son Andrew Fifita has returned...

Two players who will add nothing to our starting line up. Good players but we definately don't need them.

If this is the best we can muster we may as well give up now. Kingston would merely be back up to Farah and Halatau has always been average at best.

We have a habit of chasing old, unwanted players on the brink of retirement. I dont know whether going after Halatau and Kingston is more debasing than when we tried to sign Patten, Wesser and Bobcat Ryan. Mercifully, those three took the dignified option of retiring. I can confident say that our recruitment is the worst in the NRL. The salary cap is supposed to achieve parity between the buying power of all the teams but we continue to lag a considerable distance behind the rest. Thank god for our juniors.

They tick most of the boxes

1--played for Penrith
2--end of their football life
3--little impact
4--on the small size
5--average ability
6--good on the bbq at team bonding sessions
7--good at signing team song after a rare win

If we can out bid Salford and Orange CYMS for their services we will be laughing and have Little Tom Waterhouse slashing our odds for 2014.Great to have Ronald out their sniffing out the elite players

So who was the genius who looked at our squad and said "you know what, I think we need 2 more small back rowers with minimal impact because we don't have enough of them at the moment"

Lol. It will only get worse if we give in and resign Benji.
We won't have room in our cap until 2020.

Kingston - No way!
I wouldn't mind if we signed Halatau though, he always gives his all and has been in good form for the dogs.

I don't agree with Kingston but I would be fine with Halatau for a couple of reasons.

1. He can play dummy half late in games in a dual role role with Robbie also on the field. Also he is good cover is Robbie gets injured or during Origin.

2. Earlier in the game he can be used as an extra second rower or even in the centres.

3. We have so many young players and are planning to cut more experienced players (Blair, Utai, Tuqiri). I feel having an experienced player with a Tigers background may help the squad.

He is by no means a star signing, more of a bench utility player, but he would serve a purpose in my opinion.

I'd rather have Politoni instead of Halatau, he'd be cheaper, younger and better suited to playing hooker/halfback for full games, or as benchie.

Kingston, just no, we need size and defensive dominance most importantly in the back row, as well as someone willing to make the dirty yards on the fringes.

Tagatese would be a better signing than Kingston, and again, cheaper.

Im just praying that all these old timer contracts are just for a short term fix untill we can do a massive sweep and sign a premiere pack to company our quality youngsters (who hopefully will be blooded by then)

It just makes no sense, if it is remotely true we are more f*cked than I thought!

Surely there was some Englishman that Potter coached or saw who he thinks would be able to make a go of it in the NRL?

I would prefer Junior Moors back before Halatau.
