Chasing Kingston and Halatau

....why???

We attract these 3 raters because we have absolutely no room in our cap. Resign benji and expect more years of this.
I worry for when it comes time to resign Woods and we dont have the room. Big money offers from other clubs will come.

Getting rid of Benji is the best option along with Blair. There is 20% of the cap room.

Get rid of blair & tuqiri, stop paying salaries for former players is what will free up the cap space.

We can't get rid of players. This has hammered us and is still hammering us. We need to slowly get rid of the underperformers per dollar that we spend. Blair is the no 1 problem but we have to accept it for a couple of seasons unless someone offers him a lot of money which I cannot see happening.

Don't resign Tuqiri, Blair, Moltzen and Anasta and don't overpay for Benji or anyone else. We have some decent young players coming through. Getting rid of the underperformers should free up enough space to pay these guys more if they perform.

Buying players is hit and miss. We also don't really need average players at our club. We need a gun or two. Buying Blair lost us Fifita. Why even bother going down that path again. Maybe at the right time it will make sense but at the moment we just need to live with what we have.

Halatau has actually been great for the dogs, hasler has either added a lot to his game or allowed him to do more. With sheens he was basically a dummy half runner, under hasler he has been a very good wide running option who has also shown a decent passing game.

In saying that I don't see the point of signing him, not what we need at all

Kingston, well if we signed him it would be as a backup. You don't know what players want, particularly late in their career. Look at brett finch, he openly said he had some big money offers from other clubs yet went to the storm for sweet fa and as a back up half option as he wanted to live in melbourne post footy.

Kingston has a young family in Sydney. He is towards the end of his career and convenience might be more valuable to him then bigger contract and game time if it means relocating.

Farah isn't invincible and will always miss at least a few games a year with origin. I'd rather Kingston the fckin iosefa any day.

If any other Sydney team offers Kingston a contract they'd probably get him. I can't see him agreeing to come here and play reserve grade if another club can offer him first grade.

For Finchy if he wants to stay in Melbourne post-football then there is only one option for him.

Would be stoked to get Kingston for 50k, which is what we should be paying for a NSW Cup hooker backing up Farah. But......he is better than more than a couple hookers running around in NRL. I thought he started the season as Penriff captain.... Cant play any other position either. Halfback?

Regarding Finch, im assuming he is living in Sydney if he is playing NSW Cup for Sharks.

Seriously,if we go down this avenue and sign this pair, it proves just how delusional and f**ked up our retention committee is.

Surely there was some Englishman that Potter coached or saw who he thinks would be able to make a go of it in the NRL?

I would prefer Junior Moors back before Halatau.

Na he coached the Bulls (who I support btw) the only two who would be worth looking at who he coached are Tom Burgess (who is currently at Souths) or John Bateman.. The rest are ordinary!

How loyal are the burgess family to South Sydney? Just picking up one of them would be immensely beneficial for us

I cant believe this. If true, they really must be off their rocker in recruitment and the board. Potter cannot possibly want them. Halatau, although a good utility and capable hooker, is a very small backrower- we already have a Fulton. We have even, probably successfully, shifted Anasta, another small backrower to halfback to calm Benji and do some of the kicking and other plays.

Kingston offers us absolutely nothing beyond being backup for Farah. I'd rather get Politini back - he is the future and more than capable of covering Farah and probably backrow and halves if needed. Heck Sheens is still employed by the club - lets safely put him in a swing under a tree and allow Politini to use him as a pinyata if that will get his signature. (And a useful contribution by Sheens in his remaining time with the club- cant believe his baleful, malevolent presence is still there- stubborn pigheaded b******).

This story is just weird. I have heard the rumour Iosefa's contract will not be renewed so we do need a backup replacement but FFS, not Kingston. Get Politini (or if Sheens has wrecked Politini's opinion of WT, get Halatau).

Politoni won't play first grade at the Sharks, not with Luchaa coming through in front of him.

We should definitely bring him back. Better & cheaper than Kingston or Halatau. Younger too.

Our main aim should be 2 second rowers & a prop, all of good quality.

Then an experienced halfback for 1-2 years.

Agreed- but the backrowers should be big units capable of tearing up the opposition.

Edit- extend Matt Bell (if fit)?- he did good work in the backrow before injury.

This is exactly what we need. One big forward that kills other teams. I think we have everything else in the juniors coming through. A big dominant forward though would be huge for us.

Fifita would have been ideal. George Burgess would I think be even better.

Kingston would be the biggest waste of money because we have one of the best hookers in the game ?
It honestly makes no sense to us the fans but to our board it makes a heap of sense!

Thomas would be a good get.

I'd take Luke, surely there won't be room for all 4 brothers in the souths pack in a couple of years time!

I'd take Thomas before Luke. Luke is a bit of a plodder IMO. In saying that, he'd still walk straight into our team.

I'd absolutely kill for George.

We won't get any of them though because we suck.
