Another 6 niller, albeit against sh*te opposition. Not getting carried away considering we've only played fodder but to score 12 goals in 2 games (or 20 goals in 3 games if you include last season's rout of Wigan) is a nice way to start.

Man U drop their first points of the season, leaving Chelsea alone at the top

Very useful, but there's a long, long way to go...

Three games, three wins, fourteen goals and three clean sheets

Looks like depth might be tested in the next couple of weeks though. The international break has arrived at just the right time, for once...

Happy with the results but remember we won our first 6 last season and only just scraped over the line. Agree about depth and injuries - we're a lot more short this season than last - I suppose the flipside will be more gametime for the youngsters (Bruma, Kakuta, Van Aanholt, Sturridge etc).

Another useful weekend for the Blues

More points dropped for Man U, Essien is fit and firing

Ramires looked good, but then again, it's hard not to look good against West Ham...

Another straight forward win ahead of the big one against City. Newcastle in mid-week should feature some youngsters to rest the big boys for the weekend.

This is Chelsea's title to lose. May seem a bold statement after 5 games, but I can't see what other team can genuinely challenge them, unless they fall in a heap.

Ancelotti has run out of subs in the League Cup again, resulting in our exit

Hopefully Yossi's hammy isn't too bad, although Super Frank should be back for the Citeh game

Man U can keep the Carling Cup, I'd rather keep the other two...

I'm actually glad we lost TBH. The Carling Cup is meaningless and bowing out last year aided us in our title bid IMO. Hoping Kalou and Yossi get better quickly, although Carlo has said neither are likely to play City (obviously). Van Aanholt looked good going forward, disappointed in Sturridge, and Anelka (as we knew already) is world class.

But the best performance of the evening, young Josh McEachran - this kid will be a star... he was head and shoulders above the rest (bar Nico). Hopefully gets more PL gametime... may be Lamps successor. Turnbull and Paulo are duds. On to City next... C'mon you Blues!!!

It was a great game to watch.

What about the dive from Alex to win the last penalty though, went down in stages.... gawd..

Agree on that McEachran kid, he will be a big star, always looked to have time.

I always thought he was good (I've seen a bit of footage from the youth team) but he really stood out against Newcastle. He looked like a seasoned campaigner and outshone higher profile youngsters like Kakuta and Bruma.

Agree with regards to the pen... there was a tug of the shirt but he dived.

A loss to Man City. Disappointed but really doesn't mean much at this stage of the season. Onto the Marseille then Arsenal.

Twas a day of upsets, hopefully ManU can lose aswell (at least drop points).

...and they did :D

Ordinary performance against Citeh, but they deserved the points. We had far too little respect for the ball

Good to see things back on track this morning though. Another win or two and we can blood some of the youngsters in the last couple of group games

Yep good win over Marseille... could've been better but considering we were without Drogba, Lamps, Yossi, Kalou... not too bad. Big game against the Gunners but hopefully we can do a job.

Tough times for the gaffer...

Chelsea Boss Carlo Ancelotti's Father Passes Away

Giuseppe Ancelotti, the father of Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti, has passed away in Gonzaga in Italy today.

The Blues boss had been travelling to see his father in Italy frequently in recent weeks. Giuseppe, 87, had been ill for some time with diabetes, as well as the general infirmity of old age.

"My father is not well. He is an old man. He has a lot of problems. When possible I fly back to Italy to see him and he has good support from my sister," the Chelsea boss revealed recently.

He said: "He has a lot of problems and it's tough emotionally when it's your father.

"But this is life and I have to do my best to stay close to him. Everyone at the club knows my situation and they have all given me good support."

Ancelotti's father died in a nursing home not far from the family's home region of Reggiolo, the official website of AC Milan reported today.

The coach will be in the dugout for the crucial Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday though.

A statement on the club's official website reads: "Everyone at Chelsea Football Club sends our deepest condolences to Carlo and his family. They are all in our thoughts at this time.

"The funeral will take place in Italy on Saturday. Carlo will return to London for Sunday's match versus Arsenal."
