Haha, brilliant. God I hate fantasy games. Whilst some of us are watching the sport and making decisions with our own eyes, others are sourcing fantasy points as a key indicator of performance, and cheering each third-in tackle and inconsequential hit-up.

The stats 'facts' I have (nrlstats.com) say DCE missed 5 tackles to JT's one. DCE made 17 more tackles than JT because NSW targeted him, and it worked with the amount of tries they scored down that channel.

And the Gillett try, as I said before, had so much more to do with Gillett's angle and footwork than DCE's pass, which was just a regulation in-ball - the sort that gets thrown 1000 times a week at club level. Oh yeah, and that try only came about because of JT's bloody-mindedness to trap Dugan in the in-goal, the sort of play DCE just simply isn't capable of. Course, you don't get a fantasy point for that so why would he bother?

I don't hate DCE, hating a league player I've never met seems like unnecessarily expended energy to me. I've always thought he's vastly overrated, now I think he's morally bankrupt as a person to go with the fact. He's not an Origin player's a-hole.

I'll take nrl.com over nrlstats thanks.

Your opinion is just that, an opinion.

The tries (try?) down his side was Hodges fault for coming out of the line which he did repeatedly.

The only reason DCE is getting picked on is because he backflipped, if he had gone to the Titans no one would be saying anything on his game.

I don't see anyone going on about how bad a game Thiaday or Matt Scott had last night?

And I think you're a morally bankrupt person....oh that's right, I don't really know you do I.

He got a big boo from the qland end when teams were called out. Surprised me, they really don't like back flippers up north lol.

He's no cooper Cronk, that's for sure. A number of times he looked in two minds what to do when he had the ball, his kicking was poor (why keep bombing it with no pressure on Duigan when kicks to the corner would have been far more effective?) and he looked to get in the way of Thurston rather than be assisting him. This was dce's stage to show what he has got, and he failed. I think Titans may have got lucky on this one. Be interesting to see how he goes at manly with no Foran alongside. I suspect Foran was the better of the two and was making him look good?

I think it's more the fact it was a QLD side he did it to.

Do you think they would care if it was say the bulldogs?

dce got targetted because he was on our attacking edge with hoffman, beau scott on the other side for marking up GI, and where thurston hides.

hoffman obviously loves running at DCE because he knows he can carry him. that's why he was so pissed when he had to come off from hodges dirty high shot

No one liked Cherry Evans even before he back flipped, he was a dickhead around his first negotiations back when he was getting 80k a season and the fact his the most hyped piece of shit in the game makes people hate him more.

We are supportive of our clubs up here but I wouldn't boo.
As I said previously, he was in his rights to backflip & the Titans are a mess financially and run that way, I didn't blame him.
It'd be more the fact that he lied through his teeth.

A few reasons to criticise DCE (from a QLDer's point of view):

1. He's had chances before (albeit under trying circumstances). We've looked uneasy the past 3 times he's played halfback for QLD. People seem to forget that it took Lockyer + Thurston a while to combine, and Cronk and Thurston didn't look comfortable together for a few games. We were still winning those games though.

2. There are other options: Hunt's in exceptional form and played well in his limited capacity off the bench for Australia. Morgan's also in great form and has that ready made combination with Thurston. Plus we'll all be biased to "the player from my club" can do a better job.

3. Thaiday and Scott have done the job before, in fact, have been some of QLD's best forwards during their run of wins. Even though Thaiday's been playing well below par at club level, he always lifts a gear come origin. DCE hasn't really showed much.

4. Yeah, he's a dog for playing the Titans and backing out on a deal to a QLD club isn't going to win you any fans. Particularly when it's backing out of a million dollars a season deal to a "million dollars plus" a season deal.

I couldn't give a shit about him turning his back on the titans when it comes to origin, but he was f**king woeful coming off the bench for game 1 last year, and even worse starting at halfback for game 2 and last night he was just as bad. God help us if Cronk isn't fit for game 3 because the only option is that beady eyed little tin tin prick or Mick Morgan and whilst I reckon Mick will be there eventually he is too green to be starting 6/7 in a game 3 deciding origin and Ben Hunt who is still probably a bit green but maybe a better option than Mick M.

DCE didn't break any rules, but he certainly was a passenger last night. DCE will always struggle in origin because he gets rushed by the defense more often. With time he is brilliant, without it he is ordinary.

If there is no Cronk I would start Hunt at 7 and Morgan on the bench. If they pressure Hunt and rush up on him like they did DCE Hunt will hurt them, every time a team rushes him he just seems to hurt them more times than not. Unfortunately if there is no Cronk only injury will force any changes and if there is Cronk at 7 they will drop Morgan for DCE on the bench. Mal and the selectors are in love with DCE which is a shame because form and history tells us he shouldn't be there.

Morgan never got a chance to do anything last night, he came on when we were under the pump. DCE has had multiple times to show his wares over a few years and the best he looked was coming off the bench as a lock. I don't get the love affair with him tbh, if I were a CEO there's no way in the world I would be signing him for the reported figures he's getting at Manly.

The money he is reported have been paid does look steep... but jeeze he can play. Clive Churchill medal in a losing side is a rare feat. When he did play 5/8th for Australia he looked strong too. Plenty of ability.
Thurston and Lockyer took time to gel together (2005 was rough and 2006 was hardly smooth sailing) but then became one of the all time great Origin combinations. Similarly, Cronk and Thurston didn't look great immediately, but that was when NSW were at their lowest and Cronk could rely on combinations with Slater and Smith. This is DCE's first game having trained to play halfback... I'm not writing him off just yet. Although my patience is wearing thin.

As Big Mal, Cam smith and every other two header who has discussed this has mentioned game 1 he trained for a utility role and game 2 he was hurt and only got in the captains run.

Anyway no excuses this week he had a ful prep and was shit. I still think he is a gun half, qld would be mad to write him off. He has performed on big stages before, just not origin yet.

Took the words right out of my mouth, although I prefer banjo-picker over two header.

In saying that, last year he should've made himself unavailable. It does feed into the "me-first" perception. Always easy to make these calls with hindsight though....

As is your right to take a certain stat over another, and your right to an opinion - which is what you're offering. I don't see the point in name calling but again your call.

I didn't say DCE was at fault for the tries (not try) down his corridor. But he made 30 tackles to JT's 13 for a reason. Couldn't be said his efforts on Dugan and Jennings for their tries were too flash, and on Jennings again in the lead-up to Morris' try that gave field position. I've chosen to believe nrlstats.com and they're telling me 5 missed and another ineffective.

I'm not also 'picking on' DCE, I've always believed he's overrated. Yes he's won a premiership, yes he's played rep football but my opinion is he goes missing in big games or behind non-dominant packs. Last night showed he's not fit to lace Cronk's boots, as we saw last year too.

I'd argue that performance was up there with the worst in Origin history that didn't feature 1 or 2 major f**kups - ie Hodges on debut, Kimmorley etc. He just did nearly everything poorly for 80 mins, minus a basic in ball for a try.

Like it or not, DCE is under the microscope for the way he and his manager handled the whole contractual mess. And he was awful, as he was in the 1.5 games Cronk was out last year. Thaiday and Scott are proven Origin players. DCE is far from it. I'd be picking Morgan for game three.

But as I said, you're a Manly fan right?

He's 26, and has played over 100 FG games + almost 20 rep games for Australia and QLD. How long until we just say nah he's just not up to it against the game's best?
