Except for 2009, Manly has finished at the bottom of the NYC and Manly haven't had a really good reserve grade side since about the mid 80s. But yeah, given that we're going to finish around the same place yet again this year in the lower grades, it's going to be catastrophic for the first grade side.

Manly utilise their lower grades better than most clubs. A slow trickle of good players coming through to bolster the first grade side. Jake and Tom Trobjevic and Clint Gutherson have just broken into first grade and all 3 look extremely promising.

Yep, I said it would be catastrophic didnt I

They are spending a record amount on a player and it will make it difficult for them to dictate who they will and will not be able to keep, forcing them to have to rely on that depth more than they ever have imo. You may not agree, I really dont care, but I see Manly struggling over the next few years unless they have a great deal of luck.

it's a hypothetical question but i bet if you asked DC€ if he'd prefer his negotiation to go through the new rules, he'd say no (between 4 walls of course)

That's a different point entirely. You said that because Manly were struggling in the lower grades it was a bad sign for Manly. I countered that point and said that Manly historically have struggled in those grades.

You now make the point that Manly have potentially put all their eggs in one basket with DCE. I wouldn't necessarily disagree with that and it could turn out badly.

I think you just want to find a reason for Manly to struggle and you'll look under any rock to find that reason. Makes it hard to take your points seriously.

He made plenty of sly little comments like "at this stage I am going to the gold coast and I cant see that changing" just keep your mouth shut dancing around the truth is as good as lying. I don't begrudge him for taking the biggest offer but stringing the titans along like that for a few months to get that bigger offer was terrible.

Oh BetScat you moron.

So what should he have said?
Should he have told the Titans, I am still negotiating with Manly, they then pull his offer and the Manly offer never happens?

It didn't matter what he said or how he said it, he was damned if he did and damned if he didn't and you morons would have found fault because you all hate Manly. Idiots

How can anyone argue this point.

The douche would randomly pop up to remind us that he was relevant. It was obvious that he was simply leading everyone and the titans. Why didn't he just come out and say I'm leaving. That's that. Sezar came out and said it.

He was simply upping his value.

I don't think anyone begrudges him taking the money.
As soon as he agreed to the Titans offer he should have told the media the he won't be taking questions about staying or going.
He quite purposely worded comments like 'nothing has changed at this stage' so that if he did choose to stay, he could say I never lied.
He was badly misrepresented, and you knew it was going to be a circus when his arrival to the Sharks meeting was televised.

Um no mate, I have no reason to want Manly to struggle. They will have to rely on the reserve graders and NYC, who are below average, more cause they are likely to lose more FGers.

That was and still is my original point

There really is no need to be so salty about it

Well if u ask a manly fan its all just a beat up because we hate manly! Half these freaks probably wrote DCE off when he left now the poor guy is a victim of the media/manly hate.

I hate Manly.

I love the fact you have paid overs for DCE. You paid more for him than JT, Cronk or Johnson.

Well done Manly.

You'll need some gun forwards coming through in the juniors who will play first grade for cheap, or for Nate to become Superman.

Haha my comment obviously wasnt clear...im not a manly fan at all. Just pointing out since he has decided to stay with manly anyone who criticises what he did or how he handled it is met with a chorus of "Bullshit u just hate manly" and yet when i was bagging him before he comitted to stay at manly no one said that to me once...

There's no doubt some of that but you'll also find some balanced views if you cared to look.

DCE could have handled this better but he was also guided by greedy managers and his contract with Fox Sports necessitated his constant appearances in the media. Another good reason why current players shouldn't be allowed to have media contracts.

Lord know why this is still being discussed

DCE fleeced Manly, he is happy

Manly kept their star player, they are happy

Gold Coast got screwed over, they are unhappy

Neutral fans...................who cares??

This merkins the most over rated piece of shit in the game, how his the highest paid player has me beat, the merkins 26 he should be coming into his own in rep footy now but instead he dishes out flop after flop and watch him do nothing at Manly now the likes of Watmough, Glen Stewart, Brent Kite and co aren't there to make him look good.

Sweating on Cronk to return or QLD are f**ked.
