Im just wondering what the ruling is? Whether players who played for Australia can still eligible, or are they still automatically selected for Origin, barring injury. I mean we saw last year Joel Clinton played for Australia last year and was overlooked for Origin, cause Ryan O'Hara played better in the City/Country game. Just wondering if theyve still kept the same rules.
Ricky Stuart said recently that all players should be eligible regardless, and I agree with him. However they did that once, and scrapped it cause players that we're a certain for Origin got injured in that game.
I think it should stay, it'll be interesting to see the top class players play for City/Country. Also there could be a few bolters who could play in that match, I've got a list of players who would be eligible for City and Country. (starting from fullbacks to backrowers)
City:
Brett Hodgson
Anthony Minichello
Wade McKinnon (if fit)
Brett Stewart
Pat Richards
Luke Rooney
Luke MacDougall
Hazem El Masri
Eric Grothe
Mark Gasnier
Ryan Cross
Luke Lewis
Adam MacDougall (if he still wants to)
Braith Anasta
Brent Sherwin
Craig Gower
Matt Orford (though he shouldve represented Country)
Mark O'Meley
John Skandalis
Jason Stevens (if fit)
Jason King
Joel Clinton
Mark Riddell
Craig Wing
Bryan Fletcher
Lance Thompson
Anthony Watmough
Ryan Hoffman (although he might be Country but not sure)
Trent Waterhouse
Country:
Luke Patten
David Peachey
Joel Monaghan
Matt King
Timana Tahu
Matt Cooper
Amos Roberts
Scott Hill
Brett Kimmorley
Ryan O'Hara
Luke Bailey
Jason Ryles
Brent Kite
Anthony Tupou
Luke Priddis
Danny Buderus (no doubt he wont play in the ANZAC test)
Craig Fitzgibbon
Andrew Ryan
Nathan Hindmarsh
Shaun Timmins
Ben Kennedy
Luke O'Donnell
Glen Morrison
