Okay it must be time for my religious story.
My upbringing was probably fairly odd, my parents are what I would describe as apathetic atheists, they don't think there's a god and they don't particularly care. I was in Year 2, I didn't have a religion I don't think I'd even thought about it. They (wrongly) thought that sending me to a Christian (not a Catholic one, it was one of these non-denominational ones) school would provide a better education so off I went. I immediately drank the kool-aid and I was like a cult member, I distinctively remember one song I kept singing "God is better than football, god is better than beer something something something God is here all year", of course in hindsight even if there was a god that song is untrue. Anyway I was still drinking from the kool-aid believing it all until one of the teachers tried to tell me that the earth was only 7000 years old. Even as an 8 year old I wasn't buying that one, I asked a couple of the other teachers, one agreed that the earth was 7000 years old and one didn't. The stupidity of the idea and the inconsistently of the answers made an 8 year old me figure out that religion was bullshit.
Just as a funny aside, I remember one day in art class (idk why I still remember what class it was) a girl called me gay, well even at 8 I was pretty quickwitted so I called her a lesbian. I got in trouble because she mean't I was happy, apparently.
Saw her a few years ago, turns out she is a lesbian and she's punching well above her weight, good on her.
