But this just mirrors the issues with RL its not about the fans its about the money

NRL is a $billion a year business, of course it’s about the money. Don’t kid yourself, You are just a customer.
If you want to follow sport and feel part of a club then your local amateur club is a great option.

My thoughts have changed on this. Initially i wanted a refund as you would after not being able to use a product. However, with the leagues club closed, I get that the club needs everything they can get at the moment.

I'd not want a refund but would like to roll over to next year if the game isn't played this year.

I had a couple of events coming up for the independent wrestling group here in Melbourne (that's right, a Storm fan who is also a wrestling fan - go figure) and they obviously had to cancel or postpone shows. I told them I didn't want a refund but they refused - they didn't want to be taking money and not offering something in return. I suppose that's fair enough. Instead I signed up for their online streaming service so I could still be supporting them.

Basically - support the things you care about financially (if you can) or they might not be around on the other side of this. Be that your NRL team, a local group or club or even if you have a favourite local restaurant - pick up takeaway or order through Uber Eats.

I can’t see why the majority of members can leave the money with their clubs.
If they can’t, it’s systematic of the panic we saw with the dunny paper

And before the usual suspects squeal, I said the majority

At the moment I'm financially secure, still catching up on bills etc but I have a full time job, in a higher area, if anything our workload has increased during this period.

Parramatta has kept in touch a few times, no mention of a refund as yet but tbh given my situation and knowing I'll still be working for a period, home or in the office, I refuse to give them a refund.

I love my club so much that I don't want them to go broke.

When my club replied to my email, they said "We are still uncertain of what the NRL would like to do in terms of Memberships as they are wanting to take a unified league wide approach."

So that might be why the Eels, let alone any other club, has talked about refunds etc.

souths have offered refunds.
An email was sent where you had to click a button to get a refund or leave your money with the club.

I’ll be staggered if more than a few request a refund

If your out of work and struggling due to the current situation getting a few hundred bucks back isn’t going to change your situation, sadly.

best leave it with the club
A "few hundred bucks" would most definitely give some kind of reprieve for families who are struggling to even afford milk at the moment - I know a few families that would absolutely appreciate a deposit of any amount of $$ in their account at the moment.
