Dragons lost, ryles ,m gasnier without those players last year the dragons couldnt win a game,

same with this year no gasnier no ryles , reason why people gave the dragons no chance of making the top 8 alone the top 4
the only 2 buys what people brought was boyd and j smith, people laughed at weyman , costigan ,

The dragons still dont have a specialist halfback, hornby is a fullback turned halfback, the dragons dont have a reckonizeable centre they have b scott a 2nd rower as a centre and the hooker role still not fully there

moore was he assistant coach for the bulldogs last year he some someinsight in what was needed at the bulldogs and he got those players, such as ennis *(hooker), hannant, kimmorely(halfback) stagg, morris etc

The bulldogs have most of thier bases covered

people expected the dogs to improved despite the lost of sbw the dogs were picked for a top 8 spot where the dragons werent

no one expected the dragons to improve under Bennett , most experts were saying no matter how good of a coach Bennett is the dragons would be a too tough task to change

I don't think its fair to say the Dragons weren't pencilled in for a top 8 finish.

Maybe not top 4, but definately top 8.

fair point should have said not many

also to be fair the bulldogs werent picked by many to be in the top 4

I think Bennett is ahead

due to the teams , and also through the rep games and injuries too , the players were missing and how the teams played

We had talented players in that they were highly regarded juniors or underrated. Not crediting Bennett for making the most of that is like not crediting Moore for much of the likes of Idris, Roberts and Morris (arguable as well) has done.

Morris, Weyman, Poore, Soward were not rep players before this year. They were all highly regarded juniors (i.e. had talent) but they've really only just come good now, so much so that they're now a popular choice with most poster's NSW teams. Sailor was a bit of a passenger and was here more on name last year but he's here on merit. Morris and Sailor are playing so well that Nightingale (an international) can't even make a starting spot at this stage. Creagh has really only played for Country and last time he played for Australia in 2005. He's now a fixture in the NSW team and will almost certainly play for Australia again. Costigan is having his best season yet. Smith was supposed to be our big name signing and we haven't missed a beat without him for most of the season.

Bennett has also done a good job with Jarrod Saffy, Jon Green and Mickey Paea (you guys should know, he's playing for you guys next year). Theres probably someone I missed.

Not to discount what Moore has done but Warburton and Hickey's performances are no better than what they ever were. I will say that Michael Hodgson (not sure if he was already with the club) has been strong.
You've pretty much proved my point for me mate.

People keep saying that Bennett has gotten this and that out of players and hasn't bought a team and all the rest of it, well Moore has done exactly the same thing. That's the point I was trying to make. People are trying to discredit Moore by saying Bennett has done things that Moore has also done.

You Bulldogs fans are a touchy lot.

I voted for Moore because he's a first year coach, and has got a bunch of players who have never played together before to gel as a unit. He's obviously doing something right.

Everyone knew Bennett was a master coach - that's the reason we signed him. He has done wonderfuly well with a bunch of recruits that many (including Saints fans) raised their eyebrows at. I still recall a Broncos fan arguing (presumably with a straight face) that Denan Kemp was their real loss and they wouldn't miss Boyd. Bennett has also taken players like Hornby, Soward, Creagh, and Poore to the next level.

As for Cartwright, he has done well to prevent a repeat of the slides from the previous two seasons and get the team entrenched in the top 4 - despite a woeful away record (they've won their last 2 to square the ledger a bit), and not really firing to their potential in any game I've seen (save for the first 40 against the Dragons). But he has got the team winning games, which is what is important. The red hot form can come later, when it really matters.

You made it sound as though we had all these ready made stars when the reality of it was no one was talking about half those players last year and one of those players mentioned is struggling to make the starting 13. It was also a popular opinion that Bennett was gifted teams at the Broncos but neglect to mention he made those teams into what they were.

There's no doubt that Moore has done a good job but across the board I think Bennett has done a better job. Both are worthy recipients of the award though.
